Low-Carbon Intelligent Campus Network Solution

Buildings are key to our daily work, life, and learning, and take up more than 30% of global energy consumption. As such, buildings are a key focus for energy conservation and emission reduction, and the entire industry is actively exploring how to build green and low-carbon campus networks for green buildings.

Against this backdrop, Huawei launched the Low-Carbon Intelligent Campus Network Solution. By leveraging an innovative simplified architecture, this solution achieves simplified networking, facilitates easier campus network planning and deployment, and improves routine O&M efficiency. Specifically, energy-efficient remote units (RUs) are deployed onto desktops, slashing the required cabling length by more than 75% and reducing the power consumption of the entire network by about 30%. With these traits, Huawei's solution is ideal for building a simplified, low-carbon, and sustainable campus network for global customers.

This solution can be widely used in administrative offices, hotels, dormitories, healthcare organizations, stadiums, stations, and other scenarios, providing users with premium wired and wireless access services.

    In an innovative simplified architecture, the central switch can expand ports on demand through RUs, with a single fixed switch enabling access of 384 wired terminals.

  • Low carbon and energy saving: less than 1 W power consumption per port, saving energy by 30% on the entire network

    RUs use fanless design for natural heat dissipation and super quietness, and adopt energy-efficient chips and components. This achieves less than 1 W power consumption per port, saving energy by over 30% compared with the industry average.

  • Always-on services: smooth upgrade through hybrid cables; network continuity even without local mains supply

    60 W PoE++ at 300 m is enabled via the hybrid cable, and RUs support secondary PoE, eliminating the need for local power supply. This offers ultra-high transmission bandwidth and facilitates smooth network evolution.
