Why Huawei Wi-Fi 6?

Major contributor of Wi-Fi 6 standards Best business results First commercial use of a Wi-Fi 6 network
  • Major contributor of Wi-Fi 6 standards

Huawei is a major contributor in the coming Wi-Fi 6 era

Wi-Fi 6, the sixth generation of the Wi-Fi standard, introduces key 5G technologies, such as Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), uplink Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO), and higher-order coding 1,024-QAM. Comparatively, Wi-Fi 6 increases network bandwidth and the number of concurrent users four times more than Wi-Fi 5, reducing the average network latency from 30 milliseconds to 20 milliseconds. Huawei experts are chairpersons of five 802.11 standard working groups. With such extensive understanding and strong expertise in 5G technologies, Huawei is a major contributor to Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standards.

  • Best business results

Wi-Fi 6 products integrate with Huawei 5G technologies to achieve the best business results

    • Top speed
    • Intelligent coverage
    • Intelligent acceleration
    • Lossless roaming
    Top speed

According to Tolly, a third-party test organization, the single-client throughput of a Huawei Access Point (AP) reaches 3 Gbit/s, which ranks the highest in the industry (1 Gbit/s more than the closest competitor). This product series is specialized for high-density scenarios and 8K videos, such as football stadiums, cinemas, lecture halls, and classrooms.

    Intelligent coverage

Huawei's smart antenna technology offers an ‘adaptive’ wireless signal with more focus and anti-interference capability so that the coverage area is increased by 40 percent. Requiring less APs reduces deployment costs by 40 percent , making Wi-Fi 6 the best choice for wireless office environments in high-end campuses and enterprises.

    Intelligent acceleration

Intelligent application acceleration technology (Dynamic Turbo) lowers the network delay to 10 milliseconds, which is 50 percent lower than standard Wi-Fi 6 network latency. This works especially well with Wi-Fi 6 AR/VR and other latency-sensitive applications, helping avoid the dizziness that is caused by delay.

    Lossless roaming

With a strong foundation in mobile networks, Huawei Wi-Fi 6 provides lossless roaming technologies between APs so that data transmission without packet loss can be guaranteed, even when Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) move between large campuses. Combining Wi-Fi 6 with the IoT ensures flexible and secure IoT control.

  • First commercial use of a Wi-Fi 6 network

Industry’s first commercial use of a Wi-Fi 6 network becomes the market leader

In September 2018, the industry’s first commercial use of the Huawei Wi-Fi 6 network was deployed in the ‘Super i-Shanghai’ project, Zhejiang University, and a Belgian Energy Company, with positive customer feedback. In the ‘Super i-Shanghai’ project, it was previously difficult to connect more than 60 users to a single AP without causing a disruption of the Wi-Fi network. After changing to the Huawei Wi-Fi 6 product, more than 240 concurrent users are able to connect to the wireless network, greatly improving accessibility. In 2019, with more customers recognizing and accepting the product, Huawei has signed the most commercial Wi-Fi 6 contracts across the globe, identifying itself as a market leader. It will continue to develop and improve the Wi-Fi 6 network, creating an outstanding business experience and building service value.

Benefits of Wi-Fi 6

Wi-Fi 6 powers your enterprise forward by dramatically boosting capacity and slashing delay. It offers four times the system capacity of Wi-Fi 5, four times the concurrent access, and 60 percent lower transmission latency. Wi-Fi 6
is quick and responsive. It is intended for many users who need lots of bandwidth and a great user experience.

  • Ultra-High Bandwidth

4K ultra-HD video conferencing anytime, anywhere

Each participant in a 4K video conference needs 40 Mbit/s of  bandwidth. The 1,024-QAM Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) delivers a stable, ultra-HD video experience to more than a dozen locations.

  • Ultra-High Concurrency

Support for manufacturing and fast, seamless roaming

Connecting hundreds of terminals per time slice with overlapping coordination that multiplies the connections to many thousands, Wi-Fi 6 is ideal for enterprises that need stable connections to lots of locations. In particular, manufacturing enterprises benefit from the industry-standard technologies used by Wi-Fi 6 to ensure high concurrent capacity, transmission efficiency, and continuous operation.

  • Ultra-Low Latency

10 ms latency for quick VR response

For Virtual Reality (VR) to seem real, it needs to respond really fast. The new Wi-Fi 6 transmission protocol, with OFDMA technology, reduces the latency by 60 percent compared to Wi-Fi 5 and ensures an immersive VR experience for every user.

What is Wi-Fi 6?

Wi-Fi 6 uses the latest generation of IEEE wireless LAN standards, 802.11ax. The Wi-Fi Alliance calls the new standard Wi-Fi 6 for easy reference (Wi-Fi 5 is 802.11ac). This means the Wi-Fi 6 technologies are standard and interoperate easily with previous Wi-Fi versions.

“Wi-Fi 6 is essential for transforming the way we support applications on today’s Wi-Fi networks. Its deployment allows a new and improved user experience in dense deployment scenarios compared to that of previous Wi-Fi generations”

— Dr. Osama Aboul-Magd

As chairman of the 802.11ax standard working group, Huawei’s Dr. Osama Aboul-Magd was instrumental in developing the new Wi-Fi 6 standard.
