Huawei OceanStor 6800 V3 Delivers SPC-1™ Results to Reinforce its Leadership in Storage Performance

Dec 19, 2014

[Shenzhen, China, December 19, 2014] Huawei today announced that its next-generation enterprise unified storage product, OceanStor 6800 V3, has successfully achieved 650,987.88 SPC-1 IOPS™ as measured by the Storage Performance Council’s SPC-1 benchmark, reinforcing Huawei’s performance leadership for high-end storage. Delivering database processing performance and virtual machine support capabilities that are almost tripled compared with the OceanStor T series storage products, OceanStor V3 assists customers in building high-performance enterprise private cloud infrastructure architecture.

As an authoritative and widely recognized storage performance standard, SPC-1™ has been the trend-setter of storage performance evaluation. Using a comprehensive performance evaluation such as SPC-1™ helps Huawei provide customers with enhanced storage products and solutions. SPC-1™ Results also present customers with detailed indicators of Huawei's storage product performance, providing a key reference for decision-making.

"The SPC-1™ Results released today fully demonstrate the superiority of OceanStor V3 storage systems’ convergence architecture, which provides better price performance for customers’ data centers,” said Mr. Fan Ruiqi, President of Storage Product Line, Huawei. “This latest announcement reinforces Huawei’s commitment to providing industry-leading storage products for its customers.”

Huawei OceanStor V3 series storage systems are next-generation unified storage products specifically designed for enterprise-class data center applications. Leveraging a storage operating system built on a cloud-oriented architecture, a powerful new hardware platform, and a suite of intelligent management software, the OceanStor V3 storage systems enable five levels of convergence, including Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) convergence, high-end, mid-range and low-end convergence, Solid State Drive (SSD) and Hard Disk Drive (HDD) convergence, main storage and backup convergence, and heterogeneous storage convergence.

OceanStor storage systems also provide data storage for applications such as large-database Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), Online Analytical Processing (OLAP), file sharing, and cloud computing, and can be widely applied to industries ranging from government, finance, telecommunications, and energy, to media and entertainment. Huawei's 6800 V3 series was launched in China in May 2014 and Western Europe in November 2014.
