RSA, SAN FRANCISCO, March 6, 2014 — Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announced at RSA 2014 that its USG9580 firewall security platform has successfully completed independent third-party testing and evaluation by NSS Labs, Inc. Huawei’s USG9500 series passed various tests and satisfied all requirements contained within the NSS Labs “Firewall Testing Methodology”.
Huawei USG9500 Series Data Center Firewall
The NSS Labs firewall testing methodology encompasses a wide battery of tests designed to objectively evaluate security effectiveness, performance, stability, reliability, manageability, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
"NSS is happy to see Huawei proactively seeking to subject its security platforms to independent evaluation by industry 3rd parties. Huawei’s USG9580 data center firewall is currently the fastest firewall that we have tested,” said Vikram Phatak, CEO, NSS Labs. “We believe that security professionals, and anyone considering Huawei’s solutions, will be very interested in reviewing these results."
Huawei USG9580 win the praise of the world's fastest firewall
The Huawei USG9580 is the flagship platform from Huawei’s Unified Security Gateway 9500 series of high-end data center firewall products. Huawei believes the USG9580 is the industry’s fastest and first terabit-class firewall. The USG9500 family is positioned as an industry leading security gateway platform designed to meet the needs of enterprise cloud data centers, mid- to large-enterprise network perimeters, and Internet Service Providers (ISP) and Cloud Service Provider networks.
A fully configured USG9580 data center firewall provides up to one hundred 10GE interfaces and up to six next generation high-performance security service modules. This configuration offers a platform capable of delivering up to an industry leading maximum of 960 Gbps of secured traffic throughput. In testing, Huawei’s USG9580 demonstrated line rate throughput with 96 10GE ports during UDP testing at packet sizes 512, 1024, and 1514 bytes.
“We are pleased to share the results of the independent NSS Labs testing with the global security community. We firmly believe there is significant value in independent, third-party testing and evaluation of ICT products by reputable firms such as NSS Labs,” said Andy Purdy, Chief Security Officer for Huawei USA. “Such independent evaluation should be used increasingly across the global ICT industry, and in fact should become a recognized cornerstone for effective risk management, as companies seek to earn industry and community confidence in a platform or product.”
