Huawei Launches Industry’s Most Efficient Rectifier at 98% Conversion Efficiency, Helping Customers Move towards More Sustainable Business

Shenzhen, China, December 12, 2013 - Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has recently released its latest rectifier featuring 98% conversion efficiency globally, the highest conversion efficiency ever released commercially for telecom equipment power supply systems.

The rectifier is a key component of telecom equipment power supply systems and rectifies alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). Incorporating a number of patented technologies including MPII high efficient topology, MEPK intelligent algorithm and MSHT heat dissipation technology, the Huawei rectifier can now achieve a peak conversion efficiency of 98% even at 50% load ratio, the prevalent DC load, an upgrade from the previous 96% conversion efficiency. At 98% conversion efficiency, Huawei’s rectifier can further reduce conversion power loss by 50% compared to a mainstream rectifier in industry with 94% conversion efficiency.

The rectifier’s higher conversion efficiency reduces heat dissipation, leading to improved power density as well as a 40% power failure rate reduction and a lowered noise level. In addition, with one rack unit in height and 42.7W/inch3 power density, the rectifier saves more than 30% cabinet space and footprint.

Every 1% efficiency improvement of power supply system results in a huge amount of energy saving and profit increase, especially considering the fact that the combined annual income of the global telecom operators is over US$2,000 billion. For a core networking room with a DC load of 500kW, a 2% efficiency improvement in power supply system would save at least 100,000kWh energy consumption, equivalent to the energy consumption of nine average US households for a year,” said Dr. Fang Liangzhou, Vice President of Huawei Network Energy Product Line. “Huawei’s latest 98% conversion efficiency rectifier has redefined high efficiency conversion for power systems.
