Huawei to Power the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, Ensuring the Efficiency and Reliability of Its Radio Communications System

Shenzhen, China, August 9, 2013 — Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, announced that it has been selected to provide site power solutions to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, ensuring stable and reliable power supply for the railway’s radio communication system with its advanced ICT technologies. This is an important addition to Huawei’s offering to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, following its deployment of a GSM-R radio dispatching solution for this 142-km railway line since February 2013.

To address the unique needs of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, Huawei offers a customized power supply solution which requires a small space for setup and features flexible deployment, strong performance and high reliability. For example, the Huawei Embedded Telecom Power product included in the solution provides extraordinary power density which delivers an output of 12KW with only 5U in height. It also allows for flexible installation in a 19 inch rack or cabinet, enabling the solution easily fit into different landscape scenarios along the route. The use of highly efficient rectifier modules also significantly improves the electrical system’s reliability by lowering heat generated by over 50%. To guarantee stable operation, the solution adopts a protection level of IP55 for the indoor power system, which is designed for outdoor scenarios. Due to the effective protection, the solution can reduce occurrence of failures, resulting in reduced cost of maintenance at the same time.
