Bringing Global Railway Service Expertise and Experience to Africa
Shenzhen, China, June 21, 2013 - Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, will showcase the latest advancement and innovation in ICT transport solutions and share its 20 years of expertise and experience in the global railway industry at Africa's Transport and Infrastructure Show 2013, one of the largest events for the transport industry in Africa.
Committed to providing a secure, efficient, scalable and sustainable one-stop solution and service for rail customers, Huawei's experts will share insights and expertise on the latest development of rail transport and showcase a wide portfolio of innovative solutions and technologies for the transport sector, including Digital Rail solutions. Huawei's experts will also conduct seminars on the renowned GSM-R solution, the first GSM-R network to be deployed in Sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, worldwide applications of Huawei's advanced LTE technology, which supports broadband data transmission for trains with speed up to 430km/h, will be demonstrated at Huawei's booth at Africa Rail 2013.
Huawei has been working closely with global and local partners to continuously improve quality of railway transport through promoting Digital Railway solutions around the world. Covering all communication systems, Huawei's Digital Railway solutions encompass terminals, wireless access, transmission network, passenger information system (PIS), public address (PA), network security, emergency control and command amongst others. To fulfill different requirements under various railway scenarios, Huawei will continue to research and integrate innovative ICT technologies to develop innovative transport solutions that enhance overall security and efficiency.
“In the transport sector, Huawei has been focusing on the 'Cloud-Pipe-Device' strategy to provide the industry with a one-stop service, from the construction of cloud platforms and efficient communication network infrastructure to production of professional communication devices,” said Mr. Nie Xianzheng, General Manager of Huawei's Global Transport Solution Department. “With 70% market share in switches, routers and access point products, Huawei is capable to construct a single open-interface cloud platform that is able to support 1 million users, which can be adopted by third party vendors as well as providing customers with relevant devices and software. As the transport sector quickly becomes more informatize, the daily growth of trillion bytes of data pushes the transport sector to evolve to an era of intelligence and big data.” Huawei's cloud-based Hadoop flow analysis can enable systems to undergo optimization, decision-making and information services, improving rationality and accuracy of transport systems and greatly enhances operation efficiency.
As the first provider in the world to commercially apply 4G technology, Huawei has achieved a 61% growth in the market share of the 4G LTE railway application in 2012 and completed 100% interoperability testing with major vendors in industry. With business presence in various parts of the world, including Australia, Turkey, Russia and Italy, Huawei was awarded the “Technology Innovation” award by the World Railway Development and Research Society for its project on the world's first LTE underground communication system for Zhengzhou Metro in China. With safety being paramount priority of the railway industry, Huawei's network components, from base stations to core network and transmission, all feature 100% redundancy, providing 99.9999% reliable performance for E2/C3 rails with speeds higher than 250 km/h. Based on SingleRAN solution, Huawei is racing towards LTE for Railway, an evolution can protect customers' investment for the next 15 years.
The Africa's transport and infrastructure show 2013, will be held in Johannesburg between June 24 and 27, 2013. More information can be found in: http://www.terrapinn.com/2013/africa-rail/index.stm.
