Bandung, Indonesia, May 2, 2013 – Huawei, a leading global ICT solutions provider, recently participated in the Bandung Oil Company Annual Conference hosted by SKK Migas (the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities of the Indonesian government). Huawei shared its smart energy ICT solution and successful business practices with many representatives from the oil and gas industry.
The SKK Migas annual conference is Indonesia’s most important energy industry summit. This year’s subject was IT and operations, focusing on data sharing, inter-networking, and cooperation among SKK Migas and its subordinate oil companies. Senior IT officers from a variety of foreign oil companies participated in the discussions.
With its oil reserves and output dropping steadily, growing global energy demands are putting pressure on SKK Migas to use information technology to explore more oil and gas reserves, improve production levels, and optimize production processes. SKK Migas hopes to apply advanced ICT technology to the operation of its 70 upstream oil and gas companies. Goals include real-time data collection, production monitoring, management and exploration of upstream resources.
Huawei demonstrated its oil and gas industry solutions, especially the 4G LTE wireless telecommunications network solution, with its high broadband, large signal coverage, and multimedia dispatching. At the Huawei booth, customers were able to view products and solutions including UC&C videos, IP telephones, multimedia phones, and mobile terminals. Customers also appreciated the high-definition, low-bandwidth-consuming video products and the consistent user experience provided by multiple terminals.
Huawei and SKK Migas managers held wide-ranging discussions about how to take full advantage of Huawei solutions and experience in order to help the oil company address its challenges and achieve business success. One Indonesian oil and gas customer was so impressed by the “comprehensive Huawei industry solutions“ that he expressed a willingness to cooperate with Huawei on an oil and gas project.
Telkom and Biznet and other system integrators also held useful discussions with Huawei. The integrators were impressed by the standardization and open flexibility of Huawei products.
Huawei smart energy solutions have been successfully used by many petroleum companies, such as Saudi Arabia, China, and Mexico. In Norway, for example, Huawei and Tampnet, the world’s leading communications solutions provider for marine oil and gas projects, worked together to construct the world’s first offshore LTE network. In the future, Huawei expects in-depth cooperation with more partners in order to provide leading information and communications solutions for the oil and gas industry.
