Huawei helps pave the way for education informatization in Uzbekistan
Shenzhen, China, April 15, 2013 - Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, in partnership with the Education Ministry of Uzbekistan, is revolutionizing education in Uzbekistan through the use of a customized remote education platform that enables seamless video communication between government offices, universities and off-site facilities, which improves efficiency, reduces travel costs, and promotes the sharing of education resources among universities.
Not uncommon to many countries around the world, the education system in Uzbekistan faces a number of challenges, including limited resources, uneven regional development, and inefficient management. To optimize domestic education resources and enable greater knowledge sharing and communication among the nation’s nearly 100 universities and 1,500 middle schools, the Education Ministry of Uzbekistan engaged Huawei in 2010 to develop a customized remote education platform.
Today, the platform - equipped with Huawei’s latest telepresence and HD videoconferencing systems – is being utilized for over 30% 1of all communications and interactions between tertiary institutions in Uzbekistan. It has enabled the over 80 universities and 117 off-site locations across the country using the platform to be more innovative, streamline administration and management processes, and improve the overall quality of the education system in Uzbekistan.
“ICT is rapidly changing the way we live and learn, and Huawei is honored to join hands with the Education Ministry of Uzbekistan, contributing to the overall enhancement of tertiary education in Uzbekistan,” said Mr. Yong Zhao, President, UC&C Product Line, Huawei Enterprise. “With a wide array of customer-centric products and solutions, we are committed to help enterprises and organizations of various sizes and industries to address challenges brought by the convergence of ICT.”
Huawei has pioneered the development of telepresence and HD videoconferencing solutions over the past decade. Huawei's videoconferencing solution is ranked among the top three in the Wainhouse Research 2012 SpotCheck Videoconferencing and ranked one of the top two in the Frost & Sullivan 2012 Global Telepresence Market Report. Huawei’s telepresence and HD videoconferencing systems have been successfully implemented in a variety of settings: Huawei pioneered a “telemedicine” platform that serves 108 hospitals in China and developed a specialized telepresence dining system for a restaurant chain in Beijing and Shanghai. As of 2012, global shipments of Huawei videoconferencing devices exceeded 150,000, with over 5,100 units of telepresence systems deployed globally.
