Shenzhen, China, February 26, 2013–Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, announced that its cloud operating system, FusionSphere, scored a 3895 on SPECvirt_sc2010, the world's most authoritative performance evaluation benchmark. The evaluation results outscored the mainstream cloud operating systems due to its world-leading virtualization performance.
FusionSphere is an innovative cloud operating system developed independently by Huawei. It features powerful virtualization capabilities and resource pool management, and provides multiple components, tools, and open O&M and management application programming interfaces (APIs). FusionSphere can facilitate traditional and new enterprise services in significantly boosting O&M efficiency to reduce IT costs. How a product performs on SPECvirt_sc2010, an evaluation body with the highest standard, has become a top priority for customers. According to the evaluation results published by the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC), FusionSphere outscored the mainstream cloud operating systems by running a total number of 240 virtual machines and 40 computing blocks.
"Since 2009, Huawei has continuously invested a large number of resources to develop and promote its own cloud operating system," said Ren Zhipeng, the vice president of Huawei's cloud computing. "Now, Huawei's cloud computing architecture is well-received by customers. FusionSphere's excellent performance on SPECvirt_sc2010 also demonstrates that it is a definitive platform on which China's fast-growing information industry can build the next generation of information infrastructure."
As the core technology of cloud computing, virtualization has huge growth potential. 70% of X86 servers in the Chinese market will be virtualized by 2016, contrasting with the current virtualization rate of 10%. By the end of 2012, over 200 customers in 42 countries have purchased Huawei cloud operating systems. These customers are from various industries, including government, public utilities, telecommunications, energy, finance, transportation, healthcare, education, broadcasting and TV, media resource, and manufacturing.
About SPECvirt_sc2010
In an SPECvirt_sc2010 evaluation, several workloads representing applications that are common targets of virtualization are modified to match a typical server consolidation scenario. Common virtualization targets include applications on database servers, application servers, web servers, email servers, and so on. SPECvirt_sc2010 measures the maximum number of workloads that a platform can simultaneously run while maintaining the specified Quality of Service (QoS). A virtual machine that runs 6 applications is called a computing block. For more information, go to
