Huawei Successfully Previewed Next-Generation Full-View Telepresence at Interop 2012

Jan 26, 2013

Plano, TX, May 15, 2012 – Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, successfully previewed its next generation tri-screen telepresence solution at the recently held Interop Spring 2012. The new solution features the first tri-camera, tri-screen panoramic technology for an impressive 5760*1080p panoramic display to provide users with the most immersive viewing experience possible. The solution is planned to ship in the fourth quarter of 2012.

"We are excited to unveil our new generation of telepresence solutions that incorporates industry-leading innovations to provide businesses with better user experience, while lowering operating costs," said Mr. Yiquan Chen, President, UC&C Product Line, Huawei Enterprise Business Group. "Huawei will continue to meet high-end client demands to deliver more realistic live videoconferencing experiences, as well as to develop products to help clients increase efficiency and competitiveness."

The next-generation telepresence solution incorporates a co-optical-center camera system that creates a seamless panoramic 5760*1080p HD video of unprecedented quality. In the video conferencing industry, gaps between screens are typically 12cm, which interrupt the users' viewing experience. By using the latest borderless display, Huawei's Panovision Telepresence solution dramatically reduces the screen gaps to just 5.5mm; one twentieth the size of gaps in products currently on the market.

Beyond superior technology, Huawei's Panovision Telepresence employs stringent environmental standards in order to help customers reduce carbon emissions and lower operating costs. Overall power consumption is 30% lower than the industry standard for a similar solution. This  also reduces noise levels within the conference room.

In addition, Huawei's Panovision Telepresence solution leads the industry with an advanced table design that provides front access for easy maintenance. This feature uses 30% less space than similar products and requires only 200 square feet, thereby saving valuable conference room space.

Core Features for an Outstanding User Experience

Huawei’s next generation Panovision Telepresence solution is based on technology advances from the second-generation Huawei telepresence TP3106 system, and holds a competitive advantage over similar products currently on the market by providing the clearest picture and the smoothest video experience through its 1080p, 60fps (frames per second) high-definition technology. The stunning high-definition picture allows for more effective visual communication and drives better business results.  Compared with similar products with high bandwidth requirements, Panovision Telepresence achieves the above-stated pixel and frame rate with 30 % lower bandwidth, leading to significant operational expense savings. .

Panovision Telepresence also supports local meetings, which helps customers use their video conferencing room more efficiently. At the same time, Panovision Telepresence adapts automatically to interconnect with existing telepresence products and provide a more flexible video communication service to businesses.

Using three-channel hi-fi audio technology, accurate audio localization, reproduction, and lip syncing technology, Panovision Telepresence provides users with the capability to tell where the speaker is located and thus supports an exceptional live experience. Additionally, the wireless touch panel control application can be installed easily on an Android tablet allowing users to control the display, hidden panoramic camera, hi-fi audio, light system, system configuration and conference control all at the touch of a button.

As of Dec 2011, global shipments of Huawei's telepresence product had surpassed 2,100 sets. Currently, Huawei telepresence solutions are used by 45 governments, over 100 CXOs and 13 major operators. Huawei is the leading telepresence provider in China.
