Huawei ICT Competition aims to continuously provide industry chains with future driving forces and active participants for digital transformation, promote efficient mapping of talent supply and demand, and further develop the concept of a sound talent ecosystem. Under the theme of "Connection • Glory • Future", the competition gathers government organizations, higher education institutions, training partners, and enterprises to jointly set up a platform for global university and college students to compete and communicate with each other as they are about to enter the ICT industry. The competition not only recognizes and rewards students' gains and achievements in the ICT field, but also provide guidance and point out the directions for their future career development. For contestants, Huawei ICT Competition means much more than rivalry and communication. It is a fruitful journey to explore the latest ICT technologies and products and to understand the latest industry trends. Thanks to the competition, the students now have a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of ICT. Mr. Yang Xiaochun, Deputy Director General of China Center for International People-to-People Exchange Ministry of Education,P. R. China delivered a speech. He said: “China is now actively seeking for global partnership under the principles of mutual communication, construction and sharing, and furthering to expand beneficial points with each and every country. Among all, humanity and culture exchange is the most important channel and foundation as well as people are the key elements. Huawei ICT Competition is not just a program of skill and talent cultivation, but also that of meaningful humanity and cultivation exchange.”

This year's competition excels those of previous years in many aspects. It covers a wider range of regions, has a greater number of participants, sets more diverse technical domains, and above all, presents greater inclusiveness, convergence, and far-reaching influence. Two particular highlights are worth noting. First, all participants can obtain free courses and learning materials for online discussion, learning, and contest preparation. Huawei has been dedicated to promoting the development of ICT-based education, building ICT information resource sharing platforms, and providing open and high-quality education resources for free. The company has tried its best to help more and more students learn ICT technologies and product knowledge, thereby bridging the education divide and contributing to education equity. Second, it is the first time that the competition has invited a sponsor, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in China. The university will provide the Global Final winners with the opportunities to study on its campus as exchange students for a period of time from two months to one semester, free of charge. Prof. Tang Tao, Provost and Vice President (Academic) of SUSTech said: “SUSTech is dedicated to the education of future leaders for a global society that will be revolutionized by science and technology, and by leaders, we mean the kind of people equipped with the abilities and insights who should ensure that the revolution indeed serve the betterment of our human world. SUSTech welcomes promising international students with ambition to pursue their study and development here. We believe that the SUSTech-Huawei cooperation will embark on a successful road to the university-enterprise cooperation model of international ICT talent cultivation.”

Huawei ICT Competition 2018 has drawn to a close, but Huawei has not stopped marching forward on the road to a sound talent ecosystem. The academia-enterprise cooperation program promoted by Huawei ICT Academy is in full swing around the world. Through various contests, talent alliances, job fairs, and other events, the cooperation will further strengthen links among schools and enterprises to bridge the gap between talent development and talent demand, and promote the development of global talent ecosystem. In the future, Huawei will reinforce the strategy of "platform + ecosystem", continuously increase investment, and build an ecosystem enabling platform with great convergence, cohesion, and interactivity, thereby becoming a platform for platforms. In doing this, Huawei strives to provide a solid foundation for an open, shared, evolvable, and sustainable ecosystem, and ultimately, brings digital to every person, home and organization for a fully connected, intelligent world..
