Huawei and Shenzhen Qianhai New Internet Exchange Center Release White Paper on IPv6 Enhanced WAN for the ISP Industry

Sep 21, 2023

[Shanghai, China, September 21, 2023] During HUAWEI CONNECT 2023, Huawei and Shenzhen Qianhai New Internet Exchange Center (Qianhai NIXC) released the White Paper on IPv6 Enhanced WAN for the ISP Industry at the ISP Industry Forum themed Building 10-Gigabit, Service-Oriented, and Intelligent ICT Infrastructure for New Value Together. The white paper focuses on Huawei's next-generation routing technology that helps ISPs build 10-gigabit, service-oriented, and intelligent ICT infrastructure. This technology is designed to develop future-proof integrated bearer networks and accelerate intelligent development.

"The Internet service industry has been going through major transformations: from F5G to F5.5G and Net5.5G, from information technology to data technology, from B2C to B2B, and from digital to intelligent," said Eric Li, Vice President of the Marketing & Solutions Sales Dept of Huawei Enterprise BG. According to Li, ISPs' development strategies can be divided into three levels:

• Level 1: Build a competitive and wide-coverage FBB infrastructure, allowing people to access telecommunications services.

• Level 2: Use ICTs to enhance private and public services, promote the creation of intelligent city infrastructure, ensure enterprise security, and progress to the second curve.

• Level 3: Integrate data and the ICT infrastructure into one cloud and AI platform to ensure better data management and maximize the value of ICT integration. This allows enterprises to establish ISPs as reliable partners for those within the region.

Huang Zekai, General Manager of Qianhai NIXC, mentioned that the simplified target network architecture and new technologies discussed in the white paper can better deliver ultra-high bandwidth, flexible networking, and guaranteed SLA. They also provide assurance for new Internet exchange centers to upgrade network platforms. "Qianhai NIXC will strengthen cooperation with Huawei in the future," said Huang. "Together, we will use new technologies to enhance interconnection services and promote the high-quality development of the Internet ecosystem."

According to Gavin Wu, Vice President of the Service Router Domain at Huawei, the white paper illustrates the necessity and importance of building a next-generation intelligent WAN. The paper backed this up with statistics and case studies on the digital and intelligent transformation trends within the industry. Huawei also shares the methodology and key technical innovations behind creating such a next-generation communication network. The network is oriented to new trends arising from the intelligent transformation of the ISP industry. For instance, CloudWAN 3.0 enables one 400G ultra-broadband network for wide connection, multi-service bearing with high scalability and guaranteed SLA, and intelligent network management powered by AI and big data. These will help ISPs improve network service quality and in turn achieve further growth.

At the forum, He Wenzhe, CTO of Huawei's ISP business, delivered a speech titled Building an Ultra-Broadband, Simplified, and Intelligent Internet for New Value Together. He said that Huawei will provide a series of network solutions, including all-optical green network, 400GE with high SLA, IPv6 Enhanced innovation, and ubiquitous security solutions, to help customers build 3D-mesh, ultra-broadband, and ubiquitous networks. For digital services, Huawei has upgraded its abundant portfolios to the CloudWAN + X pattern, such as the "CloudWAN + Managed ICT Service" portfolio. These help ISPs stimulate B2B revenue growth by providing end users with highly valued multi-cloud interconnection, IT hosting, and intelligent operations. In addition, Huawei has been building multi-architecture computing bases and AI-enabled infrastructure to meet the industry's demands for diversified AI computing power. The entire Internet service industry is evolving towards all-optical networks, cloud-based services, and intelligent applications.

Looking ahead, Huawei will continue working with global ISP customers and partners to innovate by integrating digital technologies into the ISP industry, leading it down a secure, efficient, and innovative path toward intelligent transformation.
