The People’s Bank of China, the central bank of the People’s Republic of China, controls monetary policy and regulates financial institutions, including financial risk prevention and resolution, statistics collection, bank card management, financial regulations formulation, and fraudulent money prevention.
The bank’s original IT system ran the IT services using dual-socket servers. Since only one service could run on one server, an increasing number of servers were required to improve service performance. In this situation, the server resource usage rate was low. The bank planned to replace the original servers with higher-performance servers. As a result, IT services needed to be upgraded; service data needed to be migrated and stored as well.
The bank urgently needed a solution to resolve existing IT system issues, enhance IT system reliability, and improve the staff’s work efficiency.
Huawei introduced its data center IT system solution. With this solution, a virtualization system is installed on Huawei’s RH5885 V2 four-socket servers, and IT services are deployed on Virtual Machines (VMs). Huawei’s solution provides reliable, high-performance servers, improves server resource utilization, and service migration efficiency. This solution has the following features:
High Reliability and Performance
The RH5885 V2 generally runs mission-critical applications, such as databases and ERP. The solution features high performance, reliability, and scalability, and provides 35 RAS features to ensure stable system operations.
High Server Resource Utilization
Dozens of service VMs can run on one four-socket server, which makes full use of server hardware resources.
High Service Migration Efficiency
Application VMs are isolated from physical hardware. When a server is faulty or replaced, services can be seamlessly migrated to another server without stopping services. This enhances service continuity and reduces the workload for IT personnel.
