Huawei Industry O&M Services Build a Next-Generation O&M Indicator System

[Shanghai, China, September 23, 2020] At HUAWEI CONNECT 2020, Nick Zhang, Director of Huawei Enterprise BG Industry O&M Service Dept, delivered an open speech. The speech focused on industry Operation & Maintenance (O&M) system standards, and insights into Huawei's best practices in the Huawei ShenNong Unified O&M Platform (IMOC).

New business models and technologies are challenging the very foundations of traditional industries. The rapid, unrelenting change has forced global enterprises towards a single consensus: go digital or become irrelevant.

Massive data and services have migrated from offline to online. The role of O&M has changed from assuring devices to assuring services. However, the transition has introduced growing pains: the explosive expansion of virtual data exchange links among service applications, microservices, databases, and middleware pose great challenges to O&M services and platforms. Three primary difficulties have come to light: identification, demarcation, and backtracking.

Enterprise O&M departments urgently need to reconstruct their O&M systems from a service perspective. Based on an in-depth understanding of enterprise digital transformation objectives and services, Huawei has built indicator systems and data models and incorporated them into O&M platforms. By doing this, Huawei has helped to reconstruct and revolutionize enterprise O&M indicator systems in the way that best suits its needs. Further to this, by modeling the three key O&M indicators — user experience, application monitoring, and system resources — Huawei has managed to streamline the lineage between massive objects and data links centering on service applications. Not only that, but suite templates generated into intelligent O&M platforms have been incorporated and used to implement scenario-based views, thereby helping enterprises quickly learn about their service running status.

"To fully realize automation and intelligence, the first and most important step is digitization. Our O&M team supports more than 1000 applications that receive 230 million user visits every day. Leveraging our more than 20 years of O&M experience in digital transformation, we have built a set of digital models that standardize O&M processes, actions, and objects. We have continuously iterated them to further develop O&M digitization standards and unleash the full potential of digitized O&M systems." said Nick Zhang, Director of Huawei Enterprise BG Industry O&M Service Dept.

Huawei IMOC is a core intelligent O&M platform. It is developed based on Huawei's decades of experience in digital transformation and intelligent O&M, helping customers achieve nerve-level service O&M visibility.

For instance, in the Shenzhen Smart Airport project, Huawei provides a complete set of O&M solutions, including O&M system design, unified O&M implementation, and intelligent O&M platform deployment. These solutions ensure the stable running of numerous devices and service applications across the airport. Indicator system modeling and platform consolidation improve the fault demarcation efficiency of core production applications from hours to minutes, and the per capita maintenance efficiency by more than 30%; through this, the digital transformation success of the customer is ensured.

HUAWEI CONNECT 2020 is an annual flagship event hosted by Huawei for the global ICT industry, and is being held in Shanghai from September 23 to 26, 2020. HUAWEI CONNECT is an open platform designed to help our customers and partners navigate these changes, share experience, and work together to create new value. At this year's event, we will explore trends and opportunities in industry digitization; showcase advanced ICT technologies, products, and solutions; give you an insider's look at the fruits of joint innovation; and share best practices in digital transformation. Our ultimate goal is to build an open and sound industry ecosystem that will benefit all stakeholders and create new value for all industries.
