Huawei's NetEngine A821 E Universal Service Router Wins the Interop 2022 Best of Show Award

Jun 15, 2022

[Japan, Tokyo,June 15, 2022] At Interop 2022, the largest ICT exhibition in Japan, Huawei's datacom product NetEngine A821 E won the Best of Show Award. The product was singled out by the Interop Tokyo Steering Committee for being the industry's ultra-compact and ultra-large-capacity multi-purpose router for the metro network edge. It delivers SRv6 and 10GE FlexE slicing capabilities, enables fast cloud access by enterprises, and provides premium private line assurance.

Award-winning NetEngine A821 E

The NetEngine A821 E is an enterprise router developed by Huawei for the cloud era, allowing enterprises to quickly access clouds over the WAN. It is easy to deploy and maintain, and features high performance and reliability. As a 10GE FlexE-capable access router, this sophisticated product can be flexibly deployed at the WAN edge thanks to its compact design. This powerful router offers a switching capacity of up to 72 Gbps in a chassis measuring only 1U high and 220 mm deep, significantly faster than similar devices in the industry. It provides features such as one box for multiple types of services, enterprise egress to private network (cloud access upon network access), and one connection to multiple clouds.

As digital transformation gains momentum worldwide, the ICT infrastructure of various industries is under immense strain. The government sector requires a smart digital platform featuring one shared pool and one network for all; the financial sector requires ubiquitous, agile, and stable banking interconnection networks; and the ISP sector needs to provide edge access over private lines for enterprises as well as broadband network services with low latency and exceptional experience.

The NetEngine A821 E provides diverse fixed ports, including two 10GE/GE ports, eight optical GE ports, and eight electrical GE ports. This allows it to meet the port type and quantity requirements in different scenarios and provide converged transport of multiple services.

The NetEngine A821 E provides SRv6-based minute-level provisioning and multi-factor-based intelligent path selection, enabling services to access clouds along optimal paths. Meanwhile, it provides FlexE to deliver private line SLA assurance. FlexE supports hard network isolation, Mbps-level slicing granularity, and 1000+ slicing capacity for private lines. It not only meets service access requirements, but also significantly lowers the space and power supply requirements of devices, providing the optimal TCO solution for network construction.

As a new member to the CloudWAN solution, the NetEngine A821 E can be managed and controlled by Huawei's iMaster NCE. It provides various features, such as SRv6, IFIT, slicing, and EVPN, delivering fast and smooth cloud access required by enterprises while accelerating their digital transformation. Huawei has been continuously investing in fields such as product R&D and IPv6 Enhanced standardization to help enterprises build leading intelligent IP networks, so that they can achieve business success in the cloud era.
