[Munich, Germany, May 12, 2022] At the Innovative Data Infrastructure Forum, Huawei announced the two challenges for the OlympusMons Award 2022, namely data infrastructure with maximum energy efficiency and data storage with ultimate per-bit cost efficiency. Huawei aims to inspire scientists worldwide to tackle the most-pressing data storage challenges together.
Announce the two challenges for the OlympusMons Award 2022
Organizations and governments around the world are seeking greener, low-carbon development solutions. To meet global carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, Huawei proposes the "data infrastructure with maximum energy efficiency" challenge, aiming to inspire the academic community to improve the overall efficiency and slash energy consumption of data centers through collaborative software and hardware innovations. For the second challenge, data storage with ultimate per-bit cost efficiency, Huawei invites the science community to develop a new memory- and data-centric storage system based on software and hardware innovations, thus delivering the highest cost efficiency per bit of data to customers.
Huawei sets the OlympusMons Award to encourage global scientists to make breakthroughs in key data storage technologies, accelerate the industry-wide rollout of academic achievements, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation across industry, academia, and research institutes. Huawei invites universities and research institutes to join the Award to tackle technical challenges, unlock the value of data, and light up a digital future.
