[Barcelona, Spain, March 4, 2025] During the MWC Barcelona 2025, at the Driven by Data and AI, Building Intelligent Campus 2.0 forum, Huawei unveiled its Campus Office Network Portfolio Solution for markets outside China. Global business leaders, industry partners, and technical experts gathered to explore what new ICTs could contribute to the digital and intelligent transformation of campuses.
Michael Ma, Vice President of Huawei and President of Huawei's ICT Product Portfolio Mgmt & Solutions Dept, delivering an opening speech
Michael Ma, Vice President of Huawei and President of Huawei's ICT Product Portfolio Mgmt & Solutions Dept, delivered an opening speech at the forum. He stated, "Huawei has been deeply involved with intelligent campuses for many years. We believe in redefining campuses with ICTs and have leveraged the advantages of our product portfolios to reshape campus connectivity, platforms, and businesses." He added that up to now, together with its partners, Huawei has helped over 1,000 customers worldwide build 10 Gbps, digital, and green intelligent campuses.
Additionally, Michael Ma shared Huawei's insight into the development stages of campuses, which is gained from its extensive experience in the industry. He explained that the evolution of the campus can be roughly divided into two stages. The first stage, which ended before 2019, is represented by traditional campuses, where multiple extra-low-voltage systems were vertical and isolated. Intelligent campuses become the mainstream in the second stage, with a digital platform as the core. IT and OT data are converged, networks are IP-based, and multiple networks are integrated into one. As he put it, "Huawei trailblazed in the creation of the intelligent campus concept. At present, we have entered the stage of intelligent campus 2.0, which is 10 Gbps, digital, and green."
Eric He, CEO of Huawei Campus Team, gave a keynote speech at the forum and expanded on intelligent campus 2.0. He said that relying on leading campus portfolio solutions, campus networks will evolve from simply transmitting data to providing quality connections, campus platforms will move beyond integrating IoT to providing data intelligence, and extensive service management will be upgraded to low-carbon operations. He highlighted that these shifts will enable campuses to enjoy a premium 10 Gbps network and digital, intelligent services across all scenarios, bringing them closer to carbon neutrality. "Huawei is willing to work with industry peers to lead innovation with technology and create a bright future for intelligent campuses," he said.
Shawn Zhao, President of the Campus Network Domain, Data Communication Product Line, Huawei, delivered a keynote speech at the forum. He underscored that High-Quality 10 Gbps CloudCampus 2.0, centering on user experience, has upgraded wireless connectivity, application performance, operations and maintenance (O&M), and security, leading campus network construction to transition from connectivity-centric to experience-centric. Shawn Zhao believes that this transition will accelerate intelligence of campuses and amplify their success in the AI era.
Advancing Customers' Digital and Intelligent Transformation
Marc Garcia Lloveras, Cybersecurity Manager (CISO) at Girona City Council of Spain, shared the story of Girona City Council's cooperation with Huawei in promoting smart city construction. "We have collaboratively built high-performance, secure, scalable, flexible, and easy-to-use internal and external networks, resulting in high-quality network management, visualized service and program implementation across the network, and enhanced service levels."
Huawei will continue to work alongside Girona City Council in delving deeper into intelligent transformation and striding toward an intelligent world.
Closely Collaborating with Partners to Create More Value
Youssef Esmail Kamal Elzorba, an expert from Beijing Digital Hail Technology Co., Ltd., also made a speech at the forum. As Youssef said, Digital Hail has been using its innovative digital twin engine and intelligent operation center (IOC) solutions to help enterprises optimize decision-making, improve resource utilization, and build a safer, more efficient, and more intelligent campus. "We will continue our partnership with Huawei to create greater value for our customers," he said.
