Huawei Releases the Intelligent Horizontal Transportation 2.0 and Port Operation AI Agent

Shanghai, China

[Shanghai, China, September 17, 2025] During HUAWEI CONNECT 2025, Huawei successfully held its smart port roundtable, titled "Ceaseless Smart Port, Endless Cargo Flow." The roundtable aimed to enhance the integration of ports with advanced technologies like AI to boost operational efficiency and enhance safety control. During the event, Huawei released the Intelligent Horizontal Transportation 2.0 and Port Operation AI Agent. Both solutions work on accelerating industry intelligence by providing the port industry with a digital and intelligent foundation.

Chen Haiyong, President of Huawei's Smart Port BU, delivered a welcome speech to more than 100 global port enterprise representatives, experts, and partners. Chen noted that the port industry is facing challenges from supply chain volatility in 2025, while 5G and AI are accelerating the shift from traditional to intelligent operations. He emphasized that true port intelligence is not about stacking technologies—it is about building a closed-loop awareness-decision-process system centered on safety, intelligence, and high efficiency. According to Chen, the convergence of 5G and AI is driving three key transformations: evolution from experience-based decision-making to data-driven intelligent planning, an upgrade from single-point automation to intelligent full-link collaboration, and an extension from efficiency and safety improvements to intelligent operations and collaboration between logistics services and port economies.

Zhao Lei, Deputy Director of Digital Transformation Office at Tianjin Port Group, highlighted Tianjin Port's focused efforts in driving breakthroughs in core scenarios as part of its digital and intelligent transformation journey. Through the deep integration of AI and 5G industrial private networks, Tianjin Port Group, in collaboration with Huawei, has successfully deployed the L4 autonomous driving system. Zhao also shared its PortGPT-CV Large Model, which enables precise recognition of port elements and closed-loop management of safety risks. These innovations, he noted, are actively cultivating new forms of productivity for the group.

Mohamed Eddoujaji, Head of Operational Information Systems and Production at Tanger Med Port Authority, shared the port's steady growth trajectory since its launch in 2007, noting that the port's container throughput target for 2023 was achieved four years ahead of schedule. Despite this success, Eddoujaji acknowledged ongoing challenges, including decarbonization, emission reduction, port congestion, and security risks. Looking ahead, he expressed hope for deeper collaboration with Huawei: "With the help of Huawei's extensive expertise in the port industry, we will focus on port digitalization, and use AI, blockchain, and IoT as core technologies to build a smart and green port."
