[Barcelona, Spain, March 4, 2025] At MWC Barcelona 2025, Huawei and Conch Cement jointly revealed their AI application achievements in the building materials industry. The two parties are collaborating on developing large models for the industry, and are utilizing AI models to assist in achieving full automation and optimization in cement industrial scenarios.
Xu Yue, Chief Digital Officer of Conch Group, Wen Jialu, Head of IT and Business Process Department of Conch Group, Pan Xi, International Sales Owner of Anhui Zhizhi Engineering Technology, Xue Man, Vice President of Huawei, and Li Junpeng, Vice President of Huawei Oil, Gas & Mining BU and General Manager of Chemicals and Building Materials, attended the ceremony.
Unveiling AI application achievements in the building materials industry
Wen Jialu, Head of IT and Business Process Department of Conch Group, stated at the event that the core of building materials large models lies in business scenarios, with both data and AI being driven by these scenarios. As a leading global manufacturer of building materials, Conch Cement has accumulated a wealth of industry-specific experience and data from various business scenarios. Through its partnership with Huawei, Conch Cement integrates its accumulated experience and data with AI. This integration allows for the generalization and application of Conch Cement's expertise across various business scenarios, transforming its experience into industry-wide knowledge to create large models for the building materials industry. Leveraging Huawei Cloud's Pangu AI model platform, the two parties have achieved significant advancements, more than 21 building material AI enabled scenarios, in which two typical scenarios — clinker strength prediction and kiln total combustion optimization. It is more than just an AI revolution; it is a transformational force that fuels industry changes, speeds up innovation, and opens up new opportunities.
In the clinker strength prediction scenario, real-time process parameter recommendation is used to predict the 3-day and 28-day strength of cement clinker. The accuracy exceeds 85%, both within 1 megapascal, providing more accurate guidance for production adjustment.
In terms of total kiln combustion amount optimization in the global burning optimization scenario, the process data, distributed cache service (DCS) data, production data, as well as raw material and clinker test data are combined to deeply analyze historical data. This analysis recommends optimal production control parameters to experts, meeting clinker production needs while reducing energy consumption and cutting coal usage by 1%.
After Conch and Huawei project team working side by side for nearly half a year, with Conch Cement's extensive business expertise and Huawei's leading ICTs, the Conch & Huawei Building Materials Industry AI Big Model Release Conference will take place in April 2025, in Wuhu, China. During the event, Conch and Huawei will present all twenty-one AI-enabled building material industry scenarios and provide detailed insights into the financial outcomes.
For the future, Conch and Huawei will jointly lead the development and adoption of intelligent cement manufacturing standards, while also creating scalable digital and intelligent applications that can be easily replicated and deployed. Together, they aim to make a substantial contribution to the intelligent transformation of the building materials industry.
