[UAE, Dubai, October 14, 2024] During GITEX Global 2024, Huawei announced latest global joint innovation achievements of intelligent oil, gas, and mining solutions at the forum themed Join Hands with Partners to Build New Intelligence in the Oil, Gas and Mine Industry. Huawei is assisting industry customers in utilizing AI for oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) and strengthening the foundation of intelligent mining with new network technologies.
Linda Han, Vice President, CEO of Huawei Oil, Gas & Mining BU, HuaweiLinda Han, Vice President, CEO of Huawei Oil, Gas & Mining BU, Huawei, highlighted that leading enterprises are accelerating the adoption of ICTs and AI to bring new vitality to traditional industries. She emphasized, innovation, cooperation, and development are crucial for unleashing a company's potential. We are intensifying our R&D efforts to promote intelligent solutions and technologies that are tailored to the resource industries like oil, gas, and mining. We are committed to working with customers and partners to ensure that intelligent technology is implemented across practical business scenarios.
According to Dr. Omar Alfarisi, AI presents a broad application prospect in the E&P of subsurface energy. He identified predictive maintenance, reservoir characterization, and seismic interpretation as the top three areas where AI can be applied. The extensive and comprehensive use of AI will bring about a revolutionary change to traditional E&P methods.
Dr. Deng Xili, Deputy Director of Abu Dhabi Department, RIPED, CNPC discussed how CNPC is using AI to optimize oil and gas E&P. Since 2018, CNPC has collaborated with Huawei to create an AI cognitive computing platform. This platform combines unique data analysis and machine learning solutions with geoscience and engineering technologies, as well as cloud computing, IoT, big data, and AI. As a result, the platform has achieved a 300% improvement in reservoir evaluation efficiency and over 90% accuracy in anomaly detection. This has revolutionized the E&P mode and has been highly effective in optimizing oil and gas production management.
Mr. Xie Tianzhou, Lean Production Manager of MMG Kinsevere SARL shared how the eLTE network enables the Kinsevere Mine to improve safety and efficiency. He explained that with Huawei's solution, the mine only needs to build one network to support multiple services, and eLTE network management and maintenance are more convenient compared to Wi-Fi solutions. This innovative practice marks the establishment of the first eLTE private network in the mining industry in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as in West and Central Africa, setting a new benchmark for the industry.
Mongolian mining sector is developing sharply, but the inconvenient transportation and harsh working environments in major mining areas lead to difficult recruitment and low work efficiency, one of Mongolia's top 3 operators attended the summit, and the director of the 2B business department said. As a leading telecommunications and information technology company in Mongolia, they have partnered with Huawei to initial intelligent mining projects in 2024. They aim to achieve intelligent mining areas, autonomous driving, and remote control within the next year by utilizing 4G, 5G, and other network and ICT technologies, as well as solutions such as intelligent excavators and mine trucks.
Huawei Oil, Gas and Mine Booth at GITEX GLOBAL 2024 showcased solutions and global achievements in the oil, gas, chemical, and mining industries. Looking ahead, Huawei will continue to collaborate with industry customers and partners to explore the best path for intelligent transformation and to create a new chapter in intelligence.
