Campuses Are Embracing All-Optical Networks

With increasing global carbon-neutral practices, fibers are bound to replace copper cables. All-optical campus network realizes fiber to the office, and becomes the new trend of the next-generation smart campus. The fiber to the office (FTTO) solution (previously referred to Huawei Campus OptiX solution) applies passive optical LAN (POL) technology to enterprise campus networks, implementing transmission medium evolution and simplifying the network architecture and O&M. Using this solution, smart campus networks with ultra-high bandwidth and less energy consumption are provided for customers.

Compared with the traditional network solution, the FTTO solution extends fibers to each room, desktop, and corner, achieving all campus application scenarios carried over one optical network. With high bandwidth, wide deployment scope, low O&M costs, and a long service life, the FTTO solution meets the requirements of campus cloud application, IoT, and ultra-HD video services, helping industry customers build green and simplified smart campus networks.
