SMART Education Solutions Transform Classrooms in Seychelles

On August 30th, 2025, the Ministry of Education Seychelles, Cable & Wireless, and Huawei jointly announced the launch of the SMART Education Project in Seychelles, which applies Huawei's SMART Education solution to four Secondary Schools and marks a milestone in the journey to transform education through technology.

We are honored to have Mr. John Lesperance, Principal Secretary of Ministry of Education Seychelles, to share his thoughts on SMART Education in Seychelles.

Can you share your thoughts on the future plans and direction for education in Seychelles?

Looking ahead, my vision for education in Seychelles is all about empowering all students to confidently embrace digitalization.

With artificial intelligence becoming such an important part of our everyday lives, I am genuinely thrilled about the new opportunities it offers. 

My goal is to guide our education system into the digital era, making sure every student becomes skilled in using smart technologies. 

By equipping them with these essential tools, we will help them reach their full potential and set them on the path to an exciting, innovative future!

Can you explain your partnership with Huawei for the SMART Education solution? 

Absolutely! I am happy to answer this question. 

Over the past year, Huawei has played an essential role in helping us realize our vision for SMART Education in Seychelles.

My collaboration with the Huawei team began about two years ago, and from the very beginning, Huawei took the time to truly understand our goals and requirements for educational technology.

And thanks to its extensive experience as a global ICT provider, Huawei responded by delivering an innovative and user-friendly solution that fits seamlessly into our system and meets our long-term needs, especially in the context of our education reform.

The solution is called SMART Education, which makes teaching and learning more interactive and digital. Teachers can deliver lessons with multimedia, manage classes easily, and assess students in real time. Students get personalized, engaging learning experiences with instant feedback, while schools benefit from centralized management and performance analytics.

How do you think Huawei’s solution will help schools solve important problems?

With its SMART Education solution, Huawei helps us to build a smart campus that supports remote education using HUAWEI IdeaHub — that supports learning from anywhere, at any time, and enhances the productivity and quality of our e-learning programs, while supporting smooth collaboration between teachers and students.

The SMART Education solution provided by Huawei, and as we all witnessed during the official launch, is not only cutting-edge technology but also very intuitive, which has made the integration process smooth and enjoyable for teachers and students to use. 

My Ministry genuinely appreciate having Huawei as a major partner on this exciting journey towards smarter education.

Plus having Huawei implementing its office in Seychelles means we benefit from faster support and greater peace of mind throughout the implementation process. 

What would you like Huawei’s technology and solutions to do for SMART Education in Seychelles in the future?    

In the future, I would love to see Huawei bring more innovation to SMART Education, especially by introducing advanced AI functionalities.

It would be wonderful for the Seychellois generation to keep pace with other countries and benefit form the latest technological advancements.

China is already a leader in worldwide technology, and my wish is for Huawei to share more of its newest innovations so that we can experience and enjoy this exciting development together!
