Compensar University Foundation (referred to as "UCompensar") is a private higher education institution in Colombia, one of Colombia’s leading institutions in technology-focused education, offering programs such as Telecommunications Engineering and multiple IT-related degrees.

In 2022, UCompensar launched a project called "Campus Foundation University Compensar" aiming to create an integrated space that combines university, business, community and social elements. The campus is a modern 15-story building with two basements, 53 multifunctional classrooms, 53 high-tech laboratories and public areas including commercial zones, administrative offices and student welfare facilities. With a total area exceeding 29,500 square meters, it can accommodate over 6,000 new students and more than 10,000 current students.
At the meanwhile, as student enrollment and digital demands grew, the university identified the need to modernize its network infrastructure, enhance wireless coverage, and strengthen academic programs related to ICT. To address these challenges and prepare students for a highly competitive labor market, UCompensar partnered with Huawei to accelerate its digital transformation and expand its technological capabilities.
The collaboration between UCompensar and Huawei pursued four strategic goals:
Strengthen academic programs through Huawei ICT Academy
UCompensar integrated Huawei’s global ICT Academy program, enabling access to world-class training and internationally recognized certifications in networking, cloud computing, and ICT technologies.
Modernize network infrastructure
Huawei provided a complete upgrade of the campus network, including LAN, WLAN, and data center capabilities, ensuring that the university could support high device density, stable performance, and modern digital learning environments.
Enhance digital learning and hybrid education
The university sought to deliver stronger support for virtual and hybrid classes, requiring robust connectivity, high wireless capacity, and reliable network stability across classrooms, labs, libraries, and open spaces.
Improve security, efficiency, and scalability
A modern network was essential to support administrative systems, academic platforms, cybersecurity standards, and long-term institutional growth.
Huawei deployed an end-to-end solution designed to transform UCompensar into a highly connected, future-ready campus:
Next-generation WIFI 7 network
UCompensar became one of the first institutions in Colombia enabled for WIFI 7 connectivity, providing higher speed, lower latency, and improved performance in high-density academic environments. Core, aggregation and access layers were refreshed with Huawei enterprise switches capable of supporting high-bandwidth traffic, unified management, and simplified O&M.
Modern Data Center infrastructure
Huawei supplied the data center systems used to host academic services, administrative platforms, institutional applications, storage, and virtualization workloads, ensuring reliability and scalability.
Centralized NCE management and monitoring
Through Huawei’s network management tools NCE-Campus, IT team gained improved visibility, faster troubleshooting, and unified control over wired and wireless networks.
Integration with Huawei ICT Academy
The university embedded hands-on lab environments including backbone Routers, Access Routers, Firewalls and ideahubs, online learning resources, and certification pathways for students and instructors across technology programs.
Infrastructure Impact
Huawei’s modernization of the network delivered tangible improvements:
• Full wireless coverage across campus and high-density performance for large student groups.
• Higher network reliability and speed, supporting online classes, digital platforms, streaming, and collaborative learning.
• Enhanced security for academic and administrative systems hosted in the new data center infrastructure.
• Simplified network operations, reducing downtime and improving IT efficiency.
• A scalable foundation ready for future expansions and advanced smart-campus applications.
Education impact
The partnership significantly expanded UCompensar’s academic capacity:
• 800+ students gained access to Huawei training, labs, and certification tracks, improving their employability in ICT fields.
• 34 instructors were trained and certified to teach advanced networking and cloud subjects.
• Students now learn using the same technologies deployed in real enterprise environments, bridging the gap between academic theory and industry practice.
• The university strengthened its reputation as a leading IT education hub in Colombia.
The UCompensar–Huawei collaboration resulted in:
• A fully modernized digital campus aligned with global standards.
• Stronger academic programs supported by real-world technology and certifications.
• A future-proof network prepared for hybrid learning, high device density, and advanced services.
• Improved opportunities for students entering Colombia’s and Latin America’s growing ICT job market.
