It's simple: 5G empowers all industries with intelligence. As such, 5G-powered mining is ushering in seismic changes in the industry.
Indeed, making mining more intelligent, 5G — to take just one example — allows open-pit mines to deploy a network of High Definition (HD) video cameras that transmit massive amounts of data in real time, eliminating the dangers involved in traditional manual inspection. Reducing safety risks further, 5G also implements autonomous driving for mining vehicles as well as remote control of production devices and other equipment.
Delivering high bandwidth, low latency, and high reliability, the Huawei Mine 5G Solution meets the Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements of production, monitoring, and Internet of Things (IoT) systems for mining enterprises, accelerating the evolution toward intelligence.
ICT network helps efficiently operate both aboveground and underground mines.
Timeslot reversion: Traditional networks are mainly used for download services. After the slot assignment is changed to 2:3, timeslot resources are then allocated for the upstream transmission of large-granularity services, anytime and anywhere, with test results showing that the peak uplink rate exceeds 1 Gbit/s.;
SUL: Given the limited transmission power of a traditional network, allied to an insufficient number of antennas, and the uplink capacity of 5G networks is not enough. However, SUL technology increases uplink resources, boosts the uplink rate and coverage of User Equipment (UE), and improves network quality, with the single-point uplink rate exceeding 1.1 Gbit/s.
DM-MIMO is used in mining to convert signals impacted by interference into enhanced signals, doubling network capability.
Four pico Remote Radio Units (pRRUs) and DM-MIMO antennas on the fully mechanized coalface provide full 5G coverage.
The 200 MHz spectrum of the 3.5 GHz frequency band reaches a maximum uplink peak rate of 3.4 Gbit/s — the highest figure in the industry — supporting data backhaul from up to 80 4K cameras in a fully mechanized mine.
The User Plane Functions (UPFs) that process 5G network data are deployed from the remote carrier equipment room to the equipment room of the mine campus. Device control signals are directly looped back on the campus private network, without detouring to the carrier's large network.
The solution also benefits from 5G radio air interface resource-scheduling, such as 5 QoS Identifier (5QI) pre allocation, delivering high-reliability and robust scheduling.
Access Routers (ARs) at the access end and 5G wireless terminal UE use a dual-receiving configuration to ensure reliability.
UEs, base stations, bearers, and core networks work together to improve the reliability of the entire network, which reaches 99.99%.
For 5G networks, redundancy backup is configured for terminals, base stations, and core networks.
