Smart Urban Rail All-optical Network

Based on applications such as the cloud, big data, and IoT, Smart Urban Rail improves urban rail operating efficiency and the passenger experience. Urban rail network construction faces the following challenges:

• The metro operation dispatch system and power supply system monitoring service have high security and reliability requirements.
• The surge of station ad video and HD video security services requires increasingly higher transmission bandwidth.
• No effective method is available for managing the large number of communication interfaces and optical fibers that are routed along the rail.

To cope with the changing urban rail service requirements, Huawei's smart urban rail cloud optical network uses the MS-OTN platform to transmit multiple services, including PCM, SDH, OTN, and Ethernet. It also uses the time division multiplexing (TDM) and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technologies to ensure physical isolation between services, building a future-oriented network with high security, large bandwidth, and intelligent O&M for customers.
