We are living in a world where technology advances with each passing day. The rapid development and growing popularity of wireless networks offer modern enterprises never-seen-before convenience while presenting them with challenges in their work, entertainment, and life. A typical challenge is the growing demand for large file downloads (file size: tens of thousands of megabytes) and data backup on the cloud, which poses increasingly high requirements on the network speed for a single terminal.
According to Huawei's Global Industry Vision (GIV), by 2025, there will be 40 billion smart terminals around the world, with each person having five smart terminals on average. For this reason, the number of terminals per wireless Access Point (AP) will increase by orders of magnitude, putting huge strain on the multi-user concurrency performance and throughput of APs.
In response to this, Huawei unveiled a brand-new high-quality 10 Gbps wireless campus network solution. This solution draws on Huawei's extensive product portfolio — consisting of AirEngine Wi-Fi 7 APs and CloudEngine S5755-H series high-quality multi-GE switches — to upgrade customers' high-quality wireless network experience from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps.
Ultra-high bandwidth is a key benefit of Huawei's solution, enabling zero waiting time for large file downloads. This is made possible with Huawei AirEngine Wi-Fi 7. Compared with Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 7 adds the 6 GHz frequency band, increases the channel bandwidth to 320 MHz, and optimizes the modulation mode from 1024-Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) to 4096-QAM. As a result, the overall AP bandwidth can reach 18.67 Gbps, and the network speed for a single terminal is doubled. According to a test report released by Tolly in August 2023, Huawei's AirEngine Wi-Fi 7 AP offers up to 4.3 Gbps speed for a single terminal, which is four times the industry average. The result is blazing-fast uploading and downloading of large files.

This technology enables intelligent switching between omnidirectional and high-density coverage modes. The ultimate purpose is to ensure that the wireless signal reaches every corner.
Huawei's AirEngine Wi-Fi 7 efficiently coordinates space, time, and frequency resources of APs and leverages many innovative technologies — including Coordinated Spatial Reuse (CoSR), cross-AP Restricted Target Wake Time (R-TWT)/Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) scheduling, and AI-powered interference spectrum analysis — to enable interference auto-adaptation and dynamic wideband networking. The resulting benefits include continuous wideband networking in high-density office scenarios, stable concurrency of over 120 HD video channels indoors, and zero resource contention from download services. With these traits, Huawei's AirEngine Wi-Fi 7 is an ideal choice for high-density office scenarios.

It also integrates Multi-Link Operation (MLO) technology to reduce the average latency to 2 ms. As such, Wi-Fi 7 is a key enabler for emerging use cases and unlocks fresh new user experience in metaverse, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) education, industrial control, telemedicine, and other demanding sectors.
Recently, Southwest Jiaotong University, one of top-ranked universities in China, partnered with Huawei to upgrade its campus-wide wireless network into a high-quality 10 Gbps one. This revamped network covers key areas such as classrooms, scientific research buildings, libraries, dormitories, and offices, and offers seamless connections throughout the campus. In this way, teachers and students can enjoy high-speed and stable wireless Internet access no matter where they are on the campus. Especially in dense environments like large lecture halls and stadiums, teachers and students benefit from high-quality Wi-Fi services featuring high bandwidth, high concurrency, and low latency.
Huawei has and will continue to collaborate closely with global customers in diverse industries, such as education, healthcare, large enterprises, and manufacturing, to build high-quality 10 Gbps wireless networks and stride into the ultra-high-speed networking future.
