Huawei Unveils “Four New” Framework to Advance Africa’s Digital Prosperity

【Rabat, December 1, 2025】During the Africa Investment Forum (AIF) held on November 26–27, Huawei convened about 600 senior government officials, development partners, and industry leaders to discuss how digital technologies and infrastructure can support Africa's inclusive and sustainable growth. Through two dedicated sessions, Huawei shared strategic insights and practical approaches for accelerating digital transformation across the continent.

The digital revolution is reshaping Africa's economies and public services, yet the majority of people still lack reliable connectivity, leaving hundreds of millions without access to digital opportunities. At the November 26 session on "Africa's Digital Transformation: Harnessing Emerging Technologies for Inclusive Growth and Global Competitiveness,”Chris Meng, President of Marketing & Solution, Huawei Northern Africa, introduced Huawei's "Four New" framework. He highlighted New Infrastructure—built on networks, cloud, intelligent technologies, and financial technology—as the foundation for digital progress. Strengthened infrastructure can support a New Economy (industrial digitalization and new growth models), a New Society (more inclusive public services), and New Security (safer, more resilient digital environments).

The session featured government leaders including Abdallah O. Souleymane O. Cheikh-Sidia, Minister of Economic Affairs and Development of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and Ismael Nabé, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of the Republic of Guinea, alongside industry representatives such as Colin Hu, President of Enterprise Business (Huawei Northern Africa), and Ousmane Fall from the African Development Bank Group (AfDB).

Speakers emphasized the need for greater human capital development, stronger digital foundations, and long-term partnerships to drive inclusive growth. Minister Cheikh-Sidia highlighted the importance of strengthening public-private partnerships to build an ecosystem that positions the digital economy as a key pillar of national development. Minister Nabé underscored the role of digital capabilities and technological innovation in accelerating economic and social progress, while AfDB reiterated that resilient infrastructure, particularly connectivity, is essential for economic transformation. During the session, Colin Hu highlighted the broader value of digital infrastructure, stating:“From digital divide to digital opportunities, from infrastructure to inclusive value, Africa is writing its own new chapter in the digital era.”

On November 27, Huawei continued the dialogue by hosting its side event, "Together, Building an Inclusive Digital Africa,”highlighting initiatives to expand digital access and services across the continent. Jason Ye, Chief Digital Officer of Huawei Northern Africa, presented Huawei's  "5 Inclusive Solutions", designed to enhance accessibility, affordability, resilience, sustainability, and innovation across Africa's digital ecosystem.

Across both sessions, participants agreed that Africa's digital transformation holds significant opportunities. Strengthening public-private collaboration and investing in infrastructure will be key to building a more connected, inclusive, and prosperous digital future for the continent.
