[Singapore, August 6, 2020] Under the theme of “Digital Transformation Leading to Adaptive Enterprises,” the Huawei APAC Enterprise Digitalization Summit was held online on Thursday. Industry pioneers and thought leaders from Asia Pacific gathered together and discussed how innovative ICT technologies such as 5G, cloud and AI can help enterprises accelerate digital transformation and better adapt to changes in the post-COVID-19 world.
Due to the COVID-19 global outbreak, industrial digitization has entered a new phase of explosive development - a sign of the market's strong resilience and its great potential for growth. The future-oriented elastic ICT architecture can help enterprises quickly cope with the impact of the Black Swan events and quickly change business models.
“Critical infrastructure including digital/IT and network infrastructure is highlighted as one of the CEOs’ new business agenda items as organizations accelerate their recovery journey and prepare themselves to compete in the next normal,” said Sandra Ng, Group Vice President of International Data Corporation (IDC), at the summit.
To ensure a smooth course of this transformation, enterprises must stay be resilient and adaptive to the technological challenges, Sandra Ng commented. She also introduced new business agenda for top management of companies in the region, namely, the need to build reliable IT infrastructure, reassessment on customer experience, and the capabilities to work with new technologies and intelligence.
According to IDC Worldwide Semiannual Digital Transformation Spending Guide, in 2019, a total of US$380 billion was spent on technologies and services intended to promote digital transformation of business practices, products, and organizations in the Asia Pacific region alone. It’s estimated that the investment would further increase with an annual growth of 17.4% by 2022.
5G and IoT are drastically changing enterprise ICT infrastructure and many of the enterprises are exploring the best suitable technologies and architecture in their digital transformation journey. Huawei, as a global leader in 5G and enterprise networks, shared its view on building a fully convergent campus network with IP, Optical and 5G access holistically and address different business requirements in enterprise transformation journey. Brandon Wu, CTO of Huawei EBG Asia Pacific suggested enterprises to choose the best network options that will meet their deployment needs in all kind of scenarios to enable the use cases.
WK Leung, CTO of Huawei Enterprise Business Group, believes that converged network is one of the fundamentals in order to support digital transformation. A typical organization ICT typically consists of two major building blocks: data center and campus. Huawei intelligent campus strategy, for example, prioritized converged network and vertical layer decoupling. The intelligent unified network, powered by 5G, can apply to many customers in the world from different vertical industries.
The pandemic outbreak has also expedited enterprises’ cloud transformation. Hybrid cloud, in particular, are gaining importance in streamlining procedure and proving agile response during the process.
“HUAWEI CLOUD’s full-stack AI solutions have been applied to core production systems to accelerate large-scale AI implementation in every industry,” said Edward Deng, Chief Marketing Officer of Huawei’s Cloud & AI Business Group. “The solutions offer a perfect pathway for the cloud transformation of large enterprises.”
Among the successful clients and partners is Malaysian Conglomerate Sunway Group. “Cloud is a core part of our strategy at Sunway, and we expect that Huawei will help us advance this strategy to the next level,” said Chief Information Officer Kevin Khoo of the Sunway Group.
Looking ahead, Deng believes digital transformation will lead to the convergence of 5G, cloud, and AI technologies. With the fundamental connectivity supported by cloud, 5G and more, the development of new technologies and applications driven by AI will ultimately lead to an unimaginable territory of technological advancement. “Together with our partners, HUAWEI CLOUD is committed to building a robust ecosystem for shared success,” said Deng.
