[MUSCAT, Oman, October 20, 2025] On the 20th of October, Oman Airports, in partnership with Huawei, inaugurated the region's first Smart Airport Showcase at Muscat International Airport. The event celebrated a series of successful digital transformation milestones and underscored the shared vision of both organizations to build smarter, more efficient, and seamlessly connected airports for the future.

Oman Airports and Huawei Intelligent Campus Showcase Launch Ceremony
The showcase highlights the powerful synergy between Oman Airports' operational excellence and Huawei's cutting-edge ICT solutions, including the world's first full-scenario Wi-Fi 7 airport network and a comprehensive campus security system. This collaboration is a cornerstone of Oman Airports' strategy to enhance passenger experience and operational resilience in line with Oman Vision 2040.
The partnership, which began in 2022, has rapidly progressed through several key phases:
• A successful Proof-of-Concept trial for smart campus solutions.
• The launch of the world's first Wi-Fi 7 network in May 2024, revolutionizing passenger connectivity.
• The deployment of an advanced Intelligent Project in June 2025, significantly boosting security.
"Today's showcase is not just a demonstration of technology; it marks the beginning of Oman’s journey to becoming a regional leader in smart aviation," said David Xu, CEO of Huawei Oman. "Together with Oman Airports, we are building not just a smart airport, but a smarter future for Oman. Our commitment is to provide the technological foundation that turns vision into reality."

Facing the challenge of serving over 40,000 daily passengers, Oman Airports needed a robust network to handle peak-hour demand. The deployment of Huawei's Wi-Fi 7 solution provides unprecedented bandwidth, lower latency, and superior concurrency capabilities. This ensures passengers can enjoy instant connectivity, smooth video streaming, and seamless online check-in, even in the most crowded areas like check-in halls and waiting lounges.
Furthermore, Huawei's iMaster NCE-Campus intelligent management system has transformed network maintenance. Using AI for one-map visualization and one-click optimization, it has reduced troubleshooting time from over 12 hours to minutes, ensuring maximum network uptime and a consistently high-quality passenger experience.
Security is paramount in a high-traffic environment like an international airport. The new unified security platform integrates an advanced video system powered by AI.
Key features include:
• Efficient Storage and Bandwidth: Built-in SuperCoding technology halves bandwidth and storage requirements, reducing operational costs.
• Future-Ready Infrastructure: The system is supported by a resilient F5G-A 10G all-optical network, simplifying architecture and enabling future expansions.
Basim Al Lawati, Vice President of ICT Infrastructure & Security at Oman Airports, commented on the collaboration: "Huawei brings not only advanced ICT but also a long-term digital development plan. This partnership has already led to a significant increase in passenger satisfaction and a major uplift in our security and operational capabilities. We are leveraging data and AI to make our operations 'visible, manageable, and controllable,' directly contributing to the goals of Oman Vision 2040."
