The Smart City Journey With TMG

Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG) Holding is a leading conglomerate with special emphasis on developing integrated communities, including but not limited to mixed-use real estate and hospitality projects across Egypt’s key cities, with a land bank of 53 million square meters. The group has a strong record of 50 years in the housing and real-estate development industry, developed over 33 million sqm of land and sold over 90,000 units. TMG's vision is 'community development' through establishing self-sustained residential city and community complexes for the upper and middle classes.

TMG is building a solid infrastructure to support a broad range of smart-city applications in Madinaty City.

The largest integrated smart city developed by the private sector in Egypt and the region. They are working with Huawei, a leading provider of information and communications technology (ICT) solutions, to create a comprehensive smart city service solution that includes an intelligent datacom and green OptiX network. This network will be the foundation for all smart city applications in Madinaty City, and will be powered by cutting-edge technologies such as cloud computing, IoT, big data analytics, and AI.

The intelligent datacom and green OptiX network will provide a high-speed, reliable, and secure network that can support a wide range of smart city applications. These applications could include:

• Smart transportation: The network could be used to monitor traffic conditions and optimize traffic flow, as well as to provide real-time information to drivers and public transportation users.

• Smart water management: The network could be used to monitor water usage and leakage, as well as to control water distribution.

• Smart waste management: The network could be used to monitor waste collection and disposal, as well as to provide real-time information to residents about waste collection schedules.

• Smart lighting: The network could be used to control and monitor street lighting, as well as to provide real-time information about energy consumption.

• Smart Sensors: The network could be used to monitor video sensors, as well as to provide real-time information about security threats.

The intelligent datacom and green OptiX network will be a key enabler for the development of Madinaty City into a truly smart city. By providing a high-speed, reliable, and secure network, the network will allow TMG to implement a wide range of smart city applications that will improve the quality of life for residents and visitors.

Here are some of the benefits of using Huawei's smart city service solution:

• It is a comprehensive solution that covers all aspects of smart city development, from planning and design to implementation and operation.

• It is based on cutting-edge technologies that are proven to be effective in other smart cities around the world.

• It is scalable and can be adapted to the specific needs of each city.

• It is reliable and secure, ensuring that the city's critical infrastructure is protected.

The collaboration between TMG and Huawei is a significant milestone in the development of Madinaty City. It demonstrates the commitment of both companies to building a smart city that will improve the quality of life for residents and visitors.

Objective

Future-proof network infrastructure is absolutely vital to ensure the success of smart city. The deployment of fiber optics in Madinaty City is a major step forward in the smart city journey. The fiber optic network will provide a high-speed, reliable, and secure foundation for a wide range of smart city applications. Huawei optical solution is a great choice for Madinaty City because it is green, simplified, stable, reliable, and flexible. It is also future-proof, as it can be easily scaled up to meet the city's growing needs.

The successful completion of the first phase of the project is a major milestone, and it has built a solid foundation for a long-term digital transformation partnership between TMG and Huawei. I am confident that this partnership will help Madinaty City to achieve its goal of becoming a global technology leader and a sustainable, efficient, and livable city.

On the campus network core layer, Huawei Optical Line Terminations (OLTs) carry Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network (GPON) services. In the public streets, industrial Optical Network Units (ONUs) are deployed to provide highly reliable access solutions for surveillance and smart services. In addition, the centralized network management system and user-friendly interface reduce the time required to locate faults from hours to minutes, significantly improving efficiency.

The infrastructure that has been done by Huawei that has been supporting the smart irrigation system, with wastewater utilization, ETO Observing, and automated scheduling, is a game-changer for sustainable urban landscaping. It optimizes water usage, enhances plant health, and improves operational efficiency. By creating greener, more sustainable cities, property owners, and the environment. The Smart Lighting Pole through Huawei PLC IOT communication module, 1st Time in Egypt using PLC-IOT -Innovative Medium Band Technology, providing Flexible On-demand Lighting-Reducing Power Consumption Through On-Demand Lighting, Visible Management, Proactive Maintenance- Reducing Installation and Maintenance Costs.

TMG with its wide experience in digital transformation and together with Huawei, implemented the Cloud IVS, based on a mature video cloud ecosystem, the Implementation Service helps construct and verify Integrated Communications Platforms (ICPs), effectively enabling VMS — including video management, precise video parsing, and data retrieval. The Service helps customer plan and optimize the logical and systematic deployment of video sensors, optimizing parameters, for faster service rollout. Every part and service of the city is now smart, from infrastructure, irrigation, waste management to lighting & metering. Deploying more than 10000 smart lighting Poles, 5000 ONUs, 10,000 Video sensors and the cooperation continue.
