[Shanghai, China, September 22, 2023] During HUAWEI CONNECT 2023, Huawei launched the FTTO 2.0 solution for campus scenarios and released three flagship products to build green 10G all-optical smart campus networks.
Richard Jin, President of the Huawei Optical Business Product Line, said, "New campus applications, such as imitation learning, AI-powered medical diagnosis, poses new requirements on network bandwidth, latency, and reliability. In this context, Huawei launches the FTTO 2.0 solution to implement 12.5G/25G to the room, 2.5G/10G to the AP, and 2.5G to the desktop, helping customers build next-generation campus networks that support smart campus applications."
Huawei launches the FTTO 2.0 solutionThe Huawei FTTO 2.0 solution is based on two key technologies: XGS-PON Pro and Wi-Fi 7. Compared with the FTTO 1.0 solution, the FTTO 2.0 solution features ultra-broadband, simplicity, high quality, and energy saving, meeting industry customers' requirements for building next-generation campus networks.
Ultra-broadband: Based on the industry's first XGS-PON Pro technology, the bandwidth of a single PON port is increased to 12.5G, 25% higher than the 10G bandwidth of the traditional XGS-PON. PON-Trunk ports can be bound to achieve 25 Gbps to the room, increasing the bandwidth by 1.5 times compared with the traditional network bandwidth and connecting 1.5 times more terminals under the same bandwidth condition. Huawei has launched the industry's first XGS-PON Pro ONT—Huawei OptiXstar P893E, and high-port-density 2.5GE ONT—Huawei OptiXstar P885E. They support 10G to Wi-Fi 7 APs and 2.5G to Wi-Fi 6 APs. Huawei has also launched the industry's first enterprise-class Wi-Fi 7 ONT—Huawei OptiXstar W827E, which doubles the bandwidth compared with Wi-Fi 6 ONTs.
Simplified: The network architecture is simplified from three layers to two layers, and one fiber is used to carry various services of the office, production, and equipment networks, easily realizing multi-network integration. The Huawei end-to-end hard isolation technology can manage different network slices, ensuring that different networks do not interfere with each other. What's more, the NMS is simplified, and supports unified management and monitoring, easy troubleshooting, zero-configuration replacement of faulty devices, and automatic Wi-Fi optimization.
High quality: The solution supports multi-level identification of users and service flows to ensure deterministic experience in key services such as video and voice services. The solution also supports premium Wi-Fi. It uses innovative algorithms to reduce the roaming latency to less than 20 ms, and uses the POL analyzer to visualize user experience.
Green: In the green architecture of the Huawei FTTO 2.0 solution, passive optical splitters replace active aggregation switches, reducing the number of relay devices, extra-low voltage (ELV) equipment rooms, cable trays, and air conditioners and saving 50% optical modules. The devices are also energy saving. The OLT automatically reduces its frequency when there is no traffic. The AP power is dynamically adjusted, and is reduced to 0 when there is no service. The optical fiber medium is green, stable, and anti-corrosion, and features a less carbon footprint compared with copper cables.
Up to now, more than 6000 customers around the world have chosen the Huawei FTTO solution to build smart campuses. In the future, Huawei will continue to innovate in technologies and work with customers and partners to promote the commercial deployment of the FTTO 2.0 solution, and to accelerate the intelligent transformation of campuses.
