Pan Dacom Direkt GmbH success story begins in the early 80s when decentralized terminals gained growing importance for companies in all market sectors. Pan Dacom is a system integrator for the ISP, transportation, and energy industries in Germany.

In 2017, Pan Dacom cooperated with Huawei on a network project to provide broadband services to residential users.
Broadband Remote Access Servers (BRASs) must be deployed to implement remote user management functions, such as authentication, authorization, and accounting. In order to save fiber resources, the Standard Range (SR) must support a Coarse Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (CWDM) system with active and passive components. On the other hand, broadband users who focus on gaming experiences and 4K services place high requirements on network latency, jitter, and stability. So what is the best way to meet increasingly strict Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements and prevent user deregistration?
Huawei’s Mini-BRAS Solution (based on the NE20E service router) is deployed to fulfill all requirements and offer powerful broadband access capabilities, providing Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) and Internet Protocol over Ethernet (IPoE) access; Layer 2, Layer 3, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) leased line authentication; and Layer 2 and Layer 3 web authentication. Further, Huawei’s Mini-BRAS Solution can use a standard Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS) to implement remote user management functions, such as authentication, authorization, and accounting.
The NE20E-S is a high-performance platform for providing and managing services, and adapting to various service operations modes while ensuring stable service operations. The NE20E-S and its involved solutions can build a future-oriented intelligent broadband IP network, which greatly reduces multi-service network construction and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) costs.

Huawei’s Mini-BRAS Solution supports dual-device hot backup, which allows two BRASs to work in active/standby or load balancing mode, and Transmission Control Protocols (TCPs) can back up user information in real time when network-wide routes are reachable.
Services are rapidly switched to the backup BRAS in case the master BRAS (or a link connected to the master BRAS) fails. Traffic becomes uninterrupted with no need for re-dialup, re-connection, or re-authentication, minimizing the impact of single points of failure and improving user experience.
Pan Dacom greatly improved customer satisfaction with Huawei’s solution and, in September 2017, the two companies jointly released the first mini-BRAS solution in Europe.
