[Shenzhen, China, May 27, 2026] Huawei has once again secured the No. 1 position in China's Passive Optical LAN (POL) market for 2025, according to IDC's latest China POL Market Tracker (2025 H2). This marks seven consecutive years of market leadership, underscoring Huawei's continued dominance and commitment to advancing POL solutions.

The report provides an in-depth analysis of China's POL market across four dimensions: technology evolution, vendor competition, industry trends, and product landscape. The report points out that the integration of AI with all-optical networks has become an industry-wide consensus. Across network planning, construction, operations, and optimization, AI is bringing meaningful improvements in efficiency and intelligence, driving the overall evolution toward high efficiency, deep integration, and advanced intelligence.
IDC's report forecasts that China's POL market will increase by 5.6% in 2026, when capacity will reach CNY1.89billion. Looking ahead, the market is expected to sustain a 5% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next five years, achieving CNY2.28 billion by 2030.
Facing the demands of smart campus development in the AI era, Huawei launched the all-new Intelligent Fiber to the Office (iFTTO) solution in March 2026. By integrating AI with optical networks, the solution has been upgraded with four key capabilities. This allows the solution to redefine the value of campus networks, laying a stronger foundation for enterprises to accelerate AI adoption across their campuses.
• All-optical unified connectivity: By directly connecting terminals through optical networks, the solution transforms the architecture from two layers to one. Powered by Huawei's industry-leading 50G PON Combo technology, it supports triple-mode simultaneous transmission, adapting to diverse campus traffic models and enabling flexible, on-demand network deployment. The next-generation 50G PON ONUs introduce enhanced PoE++ power supply capabilities, while also supporting encryption and port-level physical isolation. These advancements further expand the application of 50G PON across many industry scenarios, such as AI-assisted digital pathology in healthcare and VR training classrooms in education.
• HarmonyOS-based open IoT: Huawei's ONUs integrate the open-source HarmonyOS, and the first-of-its-kind Wi-Fi 7 IoT optical AP is embedded with NearLink and Bluetooth modules, enabling unified deployment, a unified foundation, and a unified bus for both networking and IoT. All of this empowers solution partners to achieve rapid integration.
• Multi-dimensional sensing: Leveraging Wi-Fi channel state information (CSI) sensing technology, this solution supports multi-dimensional non-visual sensing. In hotels, it can be used for unregistered guest fraud prevention. In classrooms and offices, it can link with air conditioning, lighting, and conferencing systems for energy saving, helping campuses reduce emissions and enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, with 3D optical sensing, it can detect patient behaviors such as falls or bed exits in hospital wards.
• Autonomous driving network: Through the industry's first all-optical campus O&M intelligent agent, the solution proactively identifies potential network risks and implements automatic closed-loop O&M. It can also interact with campus O&M personnel using natural language to provide intelligent Q&A, assist O&M personnel in decision-making, and lower the O&M threshold, allowing one person to manage an entire campus.
By integrating optical and intelligence, all-optical networks are accelerating AI adoption across campuses. To date, Huawei's FTTO solution has been adopted by more than 15,000 global commercial customers, spanning a range of sectors including education, healthcare, hospitality, and manufacturing.
Looking ahead, Huawei will continue to work with partners and industry customers to develop standards, explore new scenarios, and create new business models, accelerating the adoption of AI across industries and empowering industry transformation and upgrading.
