Huawei Proposed iRAIL for the Rail Industry

Bangkok, Thailand

[Bangkok, Thailand, May 6, 2026] At the Asia Pacific Rail 2026 (APR26), Huawei showcased its latest smart railway solutions tailored to industry-specific scenarios under the theme of "Accelerating Rail Digital Intelligence," aiming to deliver a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation experience for both passengers and freight. Central to this is the FRMCS-powered Rail Broadband transformation, providing high-reliability, low-latency connectivity for mission-critical operations. In response to the evolution toward smart rail, Huawei put forward iRAIL, an innovation strategy designed to improve quality and efficiency, streamline passenger and freight transportation, and safeguard future global mobility through intelligent technologies.

Sanford Sheng shared insights during the signaling panel. He stated that "Safety and efficiency are the core demands of railway construction and planning. Meanwhile, railway communication system is also evolving from traditional VHF radio and GSM-R toward the next-generation FRMCS. It is essential to build a dedicated private network to carry ETCS train control services. Adopting the unified UIC FRMCS standard can effectively resolve challenges of cross-system interoperability and cross-border railway roaming."

To date, Huawei has collaborated with more than 50 partners to serve over 300 urban rail lines and more than 180,000 km of railways worldwide. Moving forward, Huawei will remain committed to its "platform + ecosystem" strategy. The company will work closely with global partners to integrate cutting-edge technologies into industry-specific scenarios, drive innovation, and advance the rail industry toward a safer, more efficient, and sustainable future of mobility.
