Produits, solutions et services pour les entreprises
[Shenzhen, China, April 29, 2025] Recently, Lightwave, a world-renowned telecom media, presented its Lightwave+BTR Innovation Reviews winners. Huawei FTTO (Fiber to the Office) solution won the Wi-Fi Solution Award, which is a testament to how well Huawei's solution has been received by the passive optical LAN (POL) industry, demonstrating the company’s POL technical leadership in the optical network field.
Lightwave+BTR has been organizing and presenting the annual Innovation Reviews awards in optical communications for many years. The panel of judges consists of carriers, analysts, communications vendors, media, engineers, and researchers from universities. It is one of the most influential technical awards for the optical networks sector. According to the judges, Huawei FTTO solution “will make the transition from copper to fiber in enterprise and campus environments much easier.”
As carbon neutrality gains more attention worldwide, Boost Computing with Optical becomes an ideal choice for enterprise campus networks. Today, it is widely accepted that all-optical campus networks are the foundation for building smart campus networks. As a leader in the all-optical campus network market, in 2018, Huawei launched the FTTO solution. This solution extends optical fibers from extra-low voltage (ELV) rooms to each room, desktop, and device, enabling one optical network to carry all campus applications.
At MWC 2025, Huawei launched the FTTO 2.0 solution for campus scenarios. Underpinned by key technologies of 50G PON and Wi-Fi 7, this solution realizes 50G to the room, 10G to the AP(Access Point), and 2.5G to the desktop. Compared with the initial FTTO solution, FTTO 2.0 has significant improvements in both performance and functions. For example, it features an ultra-bandwidth and simplified architecture, as well as high quality and high energy efficiency, fully meeting industry customers' requirements for building green 10G campus networks.
Higher bandwidth: Based on the industry's first 50G PON technology, the bandwidth of a single PON port is increased to 50Gbps, 5 times higher than the 10G bandwidth of the traditional XGS-PON. One port can be bound to achieve 50 Gbps to the room, and the Wi-Fi 7 technology,10Gbps to the AP.
More connections: Based on the three-mode integrated 50GPON technology, the split ratio of a single PON port can reach 1:128, and the number of terminals that can be connected to a single optical fiber is doubled. In addition, the 50GPON, 10GPON, and GPON are compatible.
Lower latency: The solution supports multi-level identification of users and service flows to ensure deterministic experience in key services such as video and voice services. The solution also supports premium Wi-Fi. It uses innovative algorithms to reduce the roaming latency to less than 20ms, and uses the POL analyzer to visualize user experience.
Higher reliability: Huawei has launched the industry's first OLT that supports stacking and supports dual-system hot backup. In addition, the PON port supports dual feeding and selective receiving, improving the reliability to 99.999%.
Greener: In the green architecture of the Huawei FTTO 2.0 solution, passive optical splitters replace active aggregation switches, reducing the number of relay devices, extra-low voltage (ELV) equipment rooms, cable trays, and air conditioners and saving 50% optical modules. The devices are also energy saving. The OLT automatically reduces its frequency when there is no traffic. The AP power is dynamically adjusted, and is reduced to 0 when there is no service. The optical fiber medium is green, stable, and anti-corrosion, and features a less carbon footprint compared with copper cables.
Huawei's FTTO solution has been put into large-scale commercial use around the world. To date, more than 10000 enterprise customers have chosen the Huawei FTTO solution, covering industries such as education, healthcare, and hotel. According to IDC's China POL Market Report 2024 H2, Huawei's POL market share in China has ranked No. 1 for Six consecutive years.
