Improve Operating Efficiency and the Passenger Experience

Based on state-of-the-art technologies such as the cloud, big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT), rolling out smart urban rail is key to improving operating efficiency and the passenger experience, overcoming the key challenges the industry now faces.

Namely, the monitoring service for metro operation dispatch and power supply systems must be highly secure and extremely reliable.

High transmission bandwidth is also essential to cope with the surge in station video services, from digital advertising to High Definition (HD) video security.

And an effective method is needed to manage the large number of communication interfaces and optical fibers that are routed along rail lines.

Huawei's smart urban rail all-optical network uses a Multi-Service Optical Transport Network (MS-OTN) platform to transmit multiple services, including Pulse Code Modulation (PCM), Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH), Optical Transport Network (OTN), and Ethernet. It also uses Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) and Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technologies to ensure physical isolation between services, building a future-oriented network that offers high security, large bandwidth, and intelligent Operations and Maintenance (O&M).

Gain the Edge

Continuous Security

High security

• Hard pipes centrally carry urban rail production network bearer services, security video backhaul, advertising video, and office services, physically isolating each to ensure zero crosstalk and blocking.
• TDM technology and L1 Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256 encryption ensure secure signal transmission.

High Bandwidth

• The network supports a single-wavelength rate of 10G/100G/200G, 80/96/120 wavelengths or 800G to 24T capacity per fiber, on-demand allocation, and smooth expansion.
• Multi-plane static cross-connections, direct transmission of wavelengths at low latency, and dedicated bandwidth ensure stable, jitter-free production and metro control signals.

Intelligent O&M

• A dedicated latency map enables End to End (E2E) manageable, controllable, and visualized latency.
• E2E online services, specialized Huawei tools including Optical Doctor (OD) and Fiber Doctor (FD) intelligent visualization, and proactive O&M all ensure high network performance.
