2022.09.21

[Bangkok, Thailand, September 21, 2022] At HUAWEI CONNECT 2022 in Bangkok, Huawei and Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) in Thailand unveiled a global demo site for smart education, setting a new benchmark for the digital transformation of universities and colleges worldwide. In attendance at the unveiling ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mr. Somchai Santiwattanakul, President of Srinakharinwirot University, Vincent Liu, President of Huawei's Global Enterprise Network Marketing & Solution Sales Department, and Aaron Wang, Vice President of Huawei APAC Enterprise Business Group.

Huawei and SWU unveil a global demo site for smart education

SWU aspires to become an "Innovative University". To this end, SWU comprehensively promotes infrastructure upgrades and constructs next-generation digital systems. Doing so injects new impetus into digital innovation and development of SWU, in turn contributing to talent cultivation for the Digital Thailand initiative.

As such, SWU pursues a more intelligent, personalized campus with a high-performance, easy-to-deploy, and simple-to-manage digital campus network. In this way, teachers and students alike can enjoy high-quality data services.

However, SWU's original ICT systems did not have enough bandwidth. Also, there was no centralized identity authentication and access management. Compounding the issue, the wireless network was unstable and did not cover all areas. All of these made it challenging for SWU to build security protection systems for a safer campus.

Mr. Somchai Santiwattanakul, President of SWU, said, "Our collaboration with Huawei now enables our students and professors to enjoy the latest digital technologies and benefit from new teaching methods for a cutting-edge educational experience. I would like to thank Huawei Thailand for this great opportunity that will enable SWU to enhance its reputation as an innovative university and a leader in the field of education."

Vincent Liu, President of Huawei's Global Enterprise Network Marketing & Solutions Sales Department, added, "Huawei's Intelligent Multi-Service Network Solution for Higher Education is a great fit to build a future-proof education and research network for SWU. This new network fully meets the complex network requirements of SWU by offering campus-wide network connectivity, multi-network convergence, and high-speed interconnection, serving more than 30,000 teachers and students and paving the way for evolution over the next 5 to 10 years."

Huawei's Intelligent Multi-Service Network Solution for Higher Education offers three unique benefits:

• Fully-wireless experience: With AirEngine Wi-Fi 6, this solution provides the fully-wireless continuous networking capability of 200 Mbps access anytime, anywhere, enabling teaching and learning anytime, anywhere.

• Intelligent O&M: Huawei’s iMaster NCE enables real-time service experience visibility on the network wide. The VXLAN-based network virtualization solution greatly improves the new service rollout efficiency, freeing network O&M staff from laborious network management works.

• One network for multiple purposes: The network virtualization technology delivers a multi-purpose network to carry a variety of services, such as teaching, office, Internet access, and campus security protection, on one network, saving network construction and management costs.

This global demo site for smart education sets a new benchmark for ICT infrastructure construction and upgrade among universities and colleges, contributing to the talent cultivation for the digital Thailand initiative. Looking ahead, Huawei will continue to work with more customers and partners to dive deep into industry scenarios and accelerate digital transformation across industries.
