Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad (KIBB) is a financial group in Malaysia and is the largest independent investment bank in the country. Malaysia is attracting billions in investments when it comes to specialized data centers, as customers are looking to a future of cloud and AI applications and services. KIBB is at the forefront of such investment. Our overall strategy right now is the promotion of digital transformation and innovation throughout our applications and our infrastructure. KIBB is currently undergoing digital transformation, and we are actually the first bank to design a new data center and production network alongside Huawei in Malaysia.
A huge part of ensuring our data center is top-of-the-range has been in the methods we have chosen to fulfil our storage needs. While having compact and robust hardware is of great importance, Huawei has helped us take a hybrid approach. Huawei’s storage solutions, combined with Huawei Cloud, have been an essential step in our digital transformation. As we have seen within the sector, customers are showing a great preference for hybrid cloud solutions, and it’s the direction we seriously considered and discussed with Huawei’s expert consultants.
Huawei’s DCN solution is actually a new solution in the market. It uses a spine-leaf network architecture that interconnects switches in a full-mesh topology. A more traditional three-layer model consisting of core, distribution and access layers leaves us looking at longer lead times when things go wrong. The DCN solution actually manages to collapse one tier, leaving it with a higher performance, increased capacity, and a scale-out rather than scale-up design. This simplified architecture is easier for us to install and maintain, and as it is software-defined we can much easier configure our networks. Not to mention, Huawei is always willing to help us resolve any of our more technical network issues.
Beyond this, Huawei’s DCN solution also provides features like the VXLAN and SD-WAN. With all these integrated capabilities, we are highly confident in our overall network quality. We are excited to expand on this success.
