Asia Pacific 2023:Huawei Proposes Three Ways to Work with Partners and Help Asia Pacific Build Digital Economy Foundation at Huawei Global Internet Service Industry Summit

2023.08.21

[Jakarta, Indonesia, August 16, 2023] The Huawei Global Internet Service Industry Summit — Asia Pacific 2023 (the summit) was successfully held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Themed "Building Intelligent, Ultra-Broadband, and Simplified Next-Gen Internet", the summit gathered hundreds of Internet Service Provider (ISP) industry leaders, technical product leaders, experts, and scholars to discuss industry trends, business opportunities, and development of future-proof Internet infrastructure, with the aim of envisioning the future of ISP business.

Nicolas Ma, President of Huawei Asia Pacific Enterprise Business Group, delivering the opening speech

Nicholas Ma, President of Huawei Asia Pacific Enterprise Business Group, mentioned in his speech that ISPs are the key contributors of Asia Pacific's booming digital economy. "Huawei strives to help ISPs achieve business success in three ways," said Nicholas Ma. "First, we support ISPs to provide better connectivity for Business-to-Home (B2H) and Business-to-Business (B2B) users. Second, we help ISPs expand the business coverage to serve more micro, small, and medium enterprises in different verticals as Managed Service Providers (MSPs). Third, we work with partners to train ICT talent for the industry. All these strengths will enable faster growth and sustainable development in the digital future."

XtoB: Extend Connectivity, Expand Boundaries, and Stride to a High-Growth Era

Huang Dachuan, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Huawei Enterprise Business Group, commented that ISPs can use high-quality private lines to expand their B2B business into managed campus networking, one-stop Information and Communications Technology (ICT), and cloud services. They can combine technologies and product portfolios — everything from the software-defined Local Area Network (LAN), Internet of Things (IoT), and Fifth-Generation Fixed Network (F5G) to cloud-managed Wi-Fi, network security, Fiber-to-the-Room (FTTR) gigabit home networking, and data center facilities — to build a full range of premium managed services that generate new growth.

Muhammad Arif, Chairman of Asosiasi Penyelenggara Jasa Internet Indonesia (APJII), pointed out that MSPs are crucial enablers of the digital transformation journey in Indonesia. "They bridge the gap between complex technology needs and a company's internal capabilities, allowing businesses to concentrate on their core competencies while leveraging the full potential of information technology," he said. "Collaboration plays a vital role in ensuring the lasting success of the OTT and Telco industries. This goal can be achieved by establishing a shared agenda involving governmental bodies, APJII, and service providers, fostering meaningful conversations about policies and digital transformation advancements. "

Paulo Martin Santos, Chief Network Transformation Officer (CNTO) of Converge, also acknowledged the importance of fiber networks. “As we continue to provide the Philippines with superior connectivity, we are vigilant in ensuring that the Converge network is resilient, reliable and future-proof. We cannot do this without partners, such as Huawei who understand our vision. Together, let us make sure that when it comes to world-class digital access, no one gets left behind. ”

In the gigabit era, premium experience is the core competitiveness. According to Gavin Gu, President of Huawei Enterprise Optical Business Product Line, Huawei's F5G premium all-optical network solution builds a cost-effective and ultimate-experience network for ISPs. It helps ISPs build B2H and B2B growth engines, striding into a high-growth era.

During the summit, invited APJII, Converge, and other ISP customers to join a panel discussion on unlocking the potential of optical networks to boost the digital economy. The discussion started with the trends and best practices in Asia Pacific, before thoroughly exploring how to improve customer experience, increase customer satisfaction, drive MSP business development, and build future-proof network infrastructure. Key topics also included how innovation in Internet infrastructure bridges the digital divide and helps ISPs develop to form the foundation of the digital economy.

In the future, Huawei will continue to harness the advantages of its products and portfolios, accelerate intelligence with ISPs, and lead infrastructure innovation during ISP industry development in Asia Pacific. The company is well-prepared to provide state-of-the-art datacom, optical, data center, and cloud solutions, and will keep on working with ISP customers and partners to boost the digital economy in Asia Pacific.
