IRF is deeply committed to fostering innovation, sustainability, and safety in road development. The IRF Awards, launched by the IRF Geneva, recognizes outstanding projects, initiatives, and technologies that have achieved remarkable outcomes in the road and mobility sectors.
Huawei's Smart Transportation BU offered solutions for this award-winning project, in alignment with the Oman Vision 2030 and current road traffic conditions. Collaborating with the ROP and Maxvision Technology, Huawei developed intelligent urban transportation management applications. This project established a framework of sensing-transmission-computing-control and utilized an array of advanced technologies, including a CV model for international license plate recognition, violation identification, integrated pole sites, modular data centers, and vehicle big data analysis. As a result, road safety in Oman has been significantly enhanced, with an over 80% efficiency increase in traffic law violation detection at intersections. These technologies can be applied across various environments and scenarios, and are highly replicable. They maximize resource utilization, enable on-demand resource allocation, and promote environmental sustainability.
As a strategic road safety initiative of the Middle East, the Oman Road Safety Intelligent Improvement Project aims to achieve a 20% year-on-year reduction in road accidents in the first year, leading to significant economic savings amounting to millions of US dollars. The solution and the technologies encompassed have been promoted across Oman, as well as in countries like Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.
To date, Huawei has served more than 200,000 km of roads and urban transportation customers in more than 70 cities across the globe.
