Telebras: Building a Converged Backbone Network with Huawei
Productos, soluciones and servicios para los negocios
Established in 1972, Telebras is a Brazilian state-owned company responsible for building communication networks and connecting public services. Its network spans the entire country, delivering broadband connectivity to ISPs and government agencies through a nationwide backbone comprising 30,000 kilometers of fiber optics. Leveraging satellite networks, Telebras also extend Internet access to schools and hospitals in remote areas.
Different institutions have varying network requirements: (1) Flexible scalability to support inclusive access. (2) High reliability networks, achieved through a dual-path architecture, to ensure uninterrupted services for public safety and defense operations.
Telebras is preparing to operate a private government network to establish a secure IP communication system for national institutions, supporting 100G/400G interconnection. This network will complement the existing government network by supporting advanced features such as SRv6 and SDN to ensure network reliability and availability. In addition, Telebras provides dedicated private networks tailored to the needs of various public sector entities.
Telebras is a benchmark in connectivity and technological innovation, leading Brazil's digital transformation. Its mission is to connect Brazil through secure and innovative solutions, promoting digital inclusion and enabling strategic communications. Today, Telebras serves over 80 government agencies and ISPs, with coverage extending across all 27 federative units of Brazil.
