Based on the Passive Optical Network(PON) technologies, the Huawei Fiber to the Office(FTTO) for higher education solution replaces traditional aggregation switches with passive optical splitters, and replaces access switches with optical network units(ONU).Additionally, it extends fibers to rooms or desktops, reducing much cabling and electricity consumption.

Architecture
Based on the passive optical LAN (POL) technology, the Huawei FTTO solution for higher education uses one fiber network to carry all services in multiple scenarios, including fiber to the dormitory, apartment, classroom, desktop, camera, and even AP. In addition, the passive optical distribution network (ODN) achieves higher reliability and supports future-oriented elastic capacity expansion and flexible evolution.
