[Shenzhen, China, September 24, 2021] Today marked the Transportation Summit, held online within the framework of HUAWEI CONNECT 2021. Themed "Cloud-Based, Digital, Intelligent: The New Paradigm in Comprehensive Transportation", the summit attracted multiple Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), technical experts, and ecosystem partners to attend and discuss digital transformation concepts and practices for comprehensive transportation. At the summit, Huawei introduced its third-generation native hard pipe (NHP) solution for rail transport services and the Airport Cloud-Network Solution.
Cloud-Based, Digital, Intelligent: The New Paradigm in Comprehensive Transportation — Speech by Mr. Wang Guoyu
Mr. Wang Guoyu, President of Global Transportation Business Unit of Huawei Enterprise BG, noted that the transportation industry relies on innovative technologies, such as 5G, IoT, and AI, to go digital. The industry needs to digitalize equipment, hubs, road networks, stations, and other infrastructure; but it also requires universal connectivity and sensing between elements, such as people, vehicles, roads, and information. New ICTs can also increase efficiency across various services, promoting smarter transportation.
While inevitable, the digitalization of the transportation industry is not a fast process. With many different services and scenarios involved, it takes years to cover through in-depth research and understanding. Mr. Wang explained that to achieve digital, comprehensive transportation, every vertical sub-industry needs to go digital first. It is fundamental to integrate 5G, computing power, big data, and other ICT technologies with transportation services. It is also essential to tailor digital applications for specific scenarios and operations. This will ensure digital transformation in the six vertical sub-industries — aviation, urban rail, railway, roadway, logistics, and port.
At the summit, Richard Jin, President of Huawei Optical Business Product Line, detailed one of Huawei's solutions for rail transport services. He explained how Huawei's third-generation NHP network uses P2MP OTN, achieving E2E hard pipes from access networks to WANs. NHP reduces latency by 60% and ensures absolute security of key services, which helps digitalize rail transport.
Huawei NHP Network Builds an Ultimately Reliable Communication Network, Accelerating Railway Digitalization — Speech by Richard Jin
Alex Sun, Vice President of Huawei Data Communication Product Line, introduced the Airport Cloud-Network Solution of the aviation industry, which Huawei has developed together with its aviation customers. There are four network challenges during the digital transformation of airports: siloed networks, poor terminal Wi-Fi access, passive defense plus weak data security, as well as inefficient manual O&M. The Huawei Airport Cloud-Network Solution can address these pain points through one-stop access and Wi-Fi 6 continuous networking; one network for all services and innovation through IPv6+; one cloud across multiple areas and network as a service; and one-stop integrated security plus cloud-network-security collaboration.
Intelligent Cloud-Network, Boosting Digital Transformation for Smart Airports — Speech by Alex Sun
Integrating SaaS ecosystem to digitalize transportation
The digitalization of the transportation industry demands concerted efforts. Relying on the "platform + ecosystem" strategy, Huawei is open to develop a healthy ecosystem with a range of partners for the digital transformation of the transportation industry. By focusing on openness, cooperation, and mutual success, Huawei has built a new comprehensive ecosystem that covers the entire transportation industry, including solution design, system integration/engineering, application development, and platform components. This advances digitalization, and helps customers be at the forefront of global smart transformation.
Huawei hosts HUAWEI CONNECT 2021 online from September 23 to 25. The theme of this year's event is Dive into Digital. We're going to dive deep into the practical application of technologies like cloud, AI, and 5G in all industries, and how they can make organizations of all shapes and sizes more efficient, more versatile, and ultimately more resilient as we move towards economic recovery.
