[Shenzhen, China, February 23, 2024] The Data Center Intelligence Group (DCIG), a leading global technology research and analysis firm, has listed the Huawei OceanProtect X9000 as one of the top 5 2PB+ cyber secure backup targets in its DCIG 2024-25 Top 5 report. It praised the OceanProtect X9000's exceptional cybersecurity features, storage efficiency, and backup performance.
Huawei OceanProtect X9000 is among the 2024-25 DCIG Top 5 2PB+ Cyber Secure Backup Targets
The DCIG Top 5 report is based on a comprehensive and detailed technical analysis of 27 secure backup storage products. It considers the main factors that influence customers' procurement choices, including business benefits, efficiency, and data reliability.
DCIG chose to include the OceanProtect X9000 in this list because it has the following cybersecurity strengths:
Backup speed: The Huawei OceanProtect X9000 optimizes all I/O paths of backup and recovery and increases the CPU's resource utilization rate and data processing capabilities to improve backup efficiency. Its support for the distributed parallel architecture across multiple nodes allows for linear performance expansion and multi-stream concurrency, which boost backup performance. It also uses high-performance SSDs for backup storage to offer industry-leading physical bandwidths for backup (155 TB/h) and recovery (172 TB/h), which significantly improve recovery efficiency.
Data reduction: The Huawei OceanProtect X9000 uses an array of sophisticated proprietary data reduction technologies to identify backup data stream characteristics and separate data heads from changed data. Specifically, Huawei's multilayer chunking algorithm implements precise chunks and boosts data deduplication efficiency. Huawei's high-performing predictive entropy encoding technology improves the compression ratio and performance. Then the byte-level compaction technology increases storage space utilization and helps reach a data reduction ratio of up to 72:1, which is 20% higher than that of comparable products.
Reliability and resilience: Huawei's devices are the only ones to use the active-active controller redundancy architecture. They are 99.9999% reliable, meaning that if a component (such as an interface module, controller, or disk) fails, backup tasks will not be interrupted. In addition, the Huawei OceanProtect X9000 offers backup copy ransomware detection, secure snapshot, Write Once Read Many (WORM), and data encryption. Working with the isolation-zone storage, it builds storage ransomware protection capabilities from end to end. Its innovative design and strong data resilience capabilities protect customers from the increasing number of ransomware attacks by forming a last line of defense.
Huawei has been one of the driving forces behind every major upgrade in the data protection market. It provides resilient and reliable data protection services for more than 10,000 enterprise customers across over 170 countries and regions. Going forward, Huawei will continue to make breakthroughs in data protection technology and improve solutions to help enterprises build efficient and reliable backup systems. This will enable enterprises to protect their core data assets as they go through their digital transformations.
