For Smart Finance in the Age of Big Data

The data volume and switching requirements of banks are increasing. However, traditional network architectures, with primitive fault location measures and unreliable Disaster Recovery (DR) mechanisms, are slowing down the development of banking services.

Huawei’s Intent-Driven Financial Network Application is an intelligent application based on a Software-Defined Networking (SDN) framework. The Application offers two architectural innovations — quality awareness, and smooth evolution — allowing networks to provide financial services, quickly and flexibly. It adapts a flattened network architecture that integrates production and office networks, to efficiently transmit large amounts of data. It helps customers construct smart financial networks that are physically converged but logically isolated.

Traditional architectures face challenges such as tree-structured networks suffering from low data transmission efficiency, and new services introducing more and more access terminals to financial networks.

Elsewhere, big data applications require larger network bandwidth, and more efficient data transmission between production and office networks. The introduction of cloud computing technologies also requires ICT infrastructure sharing, and cross-data center Virtual Machine (VM) migration.

WAN: Multi-Center Core Carrier Network

Huawei’s Application replaces a traditional tree-structured network with a core carrier network in a ring topology. Branches and service centers connect to the banking system through the nearest nodes, improving the efficiency of the backbone network with:

  • An outloop carrier network with a three-layer architecture of core, aggregation, and access.
  • A carrier network with three or four core nodes and multiple aggregation nodes, suitable for application in multi-service center layouts.
  • A dual-plane core that enhances network stability and lowers the network’s average latency.

Data Center Network

To meet cloud-based service requirements, the large Layer-2 network supports VM migration between data centers, rapid deployment of new services, and flexible, dynamic adjustment of infrastructure resources using: a large Layer-2 network in the same city, allowing flexible service deployment and supporting active-active architectures; and an internal ring structure, with a two-site, three-center disaster recovery network. 

Campus and Branch
The Application uses E2E security protection measures, including terminal access control and rights management, to meet the requirements of campus production, office service integration, and mobile office. Large-scale coverage includes traditional campus networks, branches, and service centers, and a centralized service processing center.
