Background:

With the rapid rise of 5G technology, ALT anticipates the growing demand for more reliable and efficient telecommunication equipment and infrastructure from both the public and private sectors. Huawei Solution: Huawei’s Optical Transport Network (OTN) with 100G Bandwidth

Huawei proposed end-to-end Optical Transport Network (OTN) using Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM). Implemented in 2017 and upgraded annually, the 100-Gigabit network allows long-haul broadband expansion. The new high-speed backbone network for ALT includes the following key features:

  • Huawei DWDM-based systems utilize multiple low-energy consumption technologies to guarantee sustainable bandwidth expansion while efficiently reducing energy costs
  • Automatically Switched Optical Network (ASON) provides comprehensive multi-level protection for a flexible and easy-to-manage network
  • Huawei Fiber Doctor System manages all fiber cables in the network and diagnoses network faults with precision, helping maintenance staff monitor the network remotely and efficiently from anywhere
  • Huawei Optical Doctor System provides intelligent, end-to-end and digital management of the optical layer on the network, through centralized configuration
