Data Management Engine

Huawei's Data Management Engine (DME) is an intelligent storage management platform designed for a wide range of applications, offering convergence, intelligence, and openness. Simply stated, it simplifies storage management and Operations and Maintenance (O&M), improves the operation efficiency of data centers, and automates storage throughout its entire lifecycle.

Converged

Converged functions: Users simply need to log in to a software interface to complete resource provisioning, intelligent O&M, and data protection, simplifying multi-device storage management.
Converged devices: Unified management of storage networks — from hosts to switches to storage devices — enables End to End (E2E) automatic resource provisioning, topology generation, and associated performance analytics, improving management efficiency. DME also supports mainstream storage devices from multiple vendors.

Deployment Automation

Intelligent

Intelligent provisioning: Provides Service Level Agreement (SLA)-based, customized, pending, and Ansible-based flexible service provisioning modes for all scenarios, and supports device-based or application-based resource provisioning.
Intelligent O&M: Intelligently predicts risks from multiple dimensions, from storage performance and capacity to disk faults, with an accuracy of over 90%. In addition, 70% of performance and capacity issues can be automatically resolved.

Smart Brain

Open

Open APIs: Provides more than 100 combined Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), such as O&M, service catalog, and data lifecycle management, and provides service-oriented capabilities to third-party platforms through APIs.
Standard protocols: Ensures 100% compliance with Representational State Transfer (RESTful) API specifications. In addition, the platform is easy to learn and boasts extensive compatibility with a range of storage vendors.

  • DME connects to mainstream cloud management platforms and Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) through open APIs, scripts, and plug-ins, enabling the smooth integration into the existing environments and service processes of customers.

  • Users simply need to log in to a software interface to complete resource provisioning, intelligent O&M, and data protection for data services, simplifying multi-device storage management.

  • DME centrally manages Huawei storage, third-party storage, switches, and hosts, all through a unified management interface and open southbound APIs.
