Huawei Proposes to Enable International New Infrastructure with Digital Technologies

Jun 01, 2023

[Macao, China, June 1–2, 2023] On June 1–2, the 14th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) was held in Macao. This year's Forum attracted large numbers of attendees — over 3000 industry representatives from 700 institutions in more than 60 countries. At IIICF, Huawei put forward a new proposition — using digital technologies to enable infrastructure, such as transportation and electric power, to go smart, digital, and green.

Ma Yue, Vice President of Huawei and CEO of Huawei's Smart Road, Waterway, and Port BU, attended the event. At the forum themed "Technological Innovation, Digital & Smart Transformation Promotes Green Development of International Infrastructure", Ma Yue noted that digital economy and green development have gradually become new engines for economic growth. "Digital transformation starts with and relies on infrastructure digitalization. The wide application of digital technologies like 5G networks, cloud computing, big data, and AI will drive the upgrades of traditional infrastructure and industry", said Ma Yue.

According to Ma Yue, the interconnection between highways, urban roads, ports, customs, and other infrastructure not only lays a foundation for the movement of people, vehicles, and goods, but also provides an important channel for smooth operations of both industry and supply chains. Ma Yue also shared practices of the Smart Road, Waterway, and Port BU in fields spanning port terminal automation, ICT-based and smart road construction, and urban smart transportation development. He believes that deeply integrating digital technologies into service scenarios can improve transportation capabilities and inject new impetus into the transportation economy, therefore driving high-quality development of both hub nodes and land-sea transportation.
