Germany is the fifth-largest digital economy in the world, and more than 80% of enterprises in the nation's manufacturing sector plan to digitalize their value chain by 2024. Meanwhile, there's increased adoption of big data and Internet of Things (IoT) technology across other industries nationwide. As you might expect, these developments are leading to a vast amount of data generation. And with such huge volumes of data generated each year, many German enterprises are recognizing the need to periodically increase their data storage capacity.
More and more of these enterprises are looking to acquire data centers to address their storage issues. Naturally, this trend is creating demand for efficient Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, cloud, and managed services to support those data centers. Meanwhile, the increasing number of IT service providers are boosting the strength of Germany's data center market.
Buerodata is an established player among those German IT service providers, with many years of know-how and a wide range of products and services. It operates two data centers and network interconnections in Ahaus and Stadtlohn, and it provides IT services — such as cloud, data center, and managed services; network communications; and IT support and outsourcing — for more than 800 customers. Importantly, it also has strong partnerships with international manufacturers and suppliers.
In the digital world that Buerodata operates in, rapid data exchange is critical, and data must be up-to-date and able to adapt to rapidly changing business requirements — making it critical to keep data online and flowing smoothly across data centers, especially in terms of Data Center Interconnect (DCI). In fact, 100G interfaces have already been widely deployed on numerous DCI networks, with 200G and 400G transmission requirements even beginning to emerge. However, Buerodata's legacy optical connection-based DCI network system was designed for single-wavelength 10G. Clearly, such technology would be unable to meet the surging traffic bearing requirements of today — and of the future.
With DCI evolution critical to data center service development, ensuring service continuity and protecting existing network investments, Buerodata needed a solution to transform its legacy network into a future-oriented DCI network in order to meet further service development requirements.
As a close partner of Buerodata, Huawei provided its DC OptiX Solution — based on Huawei OptiXtrans DC908 — meeting the company's DCI network requirements and bringing other substantial benefits.
Significantly, the solution is compatible with the company's legacy optical network, providing a single-wavelength 200G to 800G DCI large-bandwidth solution without the need to lease new optical fibers, as well as supporting the rapid upgrade of DCI optical-layer capabilities on the live network. And, based on Super C band technology, the network's single-fiber capacity is now able to reach a maximum of 48 Tbit/s, with the potential to evolve to support 88 up to Tbit/s.
The DC OptiX Solution also improves the overall competitiveness of Buerodata's data center services, with a range of other benefits.
Based on these strengths of the DC OptiX solution, Buerodata is able to serve its customers with tailored IT solutions so that they can thrive in the data-intensive digital world.
